I started an Access to nursing course at a college last September and there were some people wanting to become midwives on my course. A word of warning... there's quite a lot of science... and mathematics! The biology and psychology side of nursing is very interesting, i loved that, but the Chemistry and maths i struggled with so much that i had to leave the course! Hopefully you won't find your course as hard and will enjoy it, everyone has their struggles in education you just need the right support if you do struggle and unfortunately my college did not provide much learning support!

That's awful they didn't offer any support. Have you dropped the course completely? A reason why I reached out on here to try and create a support group. I have some health science behind me already. That has helped a lot.

I have started a placement but struggling to complete assessments. Haven't witnessed any vb. Antenatal is almost complete. Concerned I won't complete this in time. Any advise? Thank you!

@KateRose92 Your have until end of year to complete it. I think you have to assist a minimum of 40 vb within the 1st year. Literally just observe everything possible, write notes, categories so can refer back easier. The assignment your worrying about now, hand in a draft copy, ask your tutor what you could elevate on.

Oh wow ok that's put my mind at ease a bit. How do you manage writing essays? Feel I get lost or overwrite.

@KateRose92 I look at the mark scheme and try to present them in line with it, so when it's being marked it's easy to tick off. Subhead each paragraph, write a brief checklist so you of what needs to be included to hit the mark. Used keywords you've heard or read, this is where them notes will help.
