Those of you from nonenglish speaking countries. Are you taught English in school from a young age?

From primary school. I think around age 8 or something. Maybe nowadays it's different though.
In my country we don't dub our movies. Only for very young children maybe, so we hear the English language from a young age. When I was a child, I used to play computer games in English and had to look up the translation of the word. Nowadays, I think for many kids English is required because of the internet.
Amazing. It really is. In my country I would honestly say less than half the population is bilingual and we have a huge Hispanic population! Thanks for the info, I never even thought about movies and the internet. Do your parents speak English?
When I was in Korea for my childhood and our foreign language class was English but it is not the same as actually talking to other people in English. In class you do not learn how to speak much because the only thing that matters is passing or failing
Yeah... and sadly I can read and write English better than my mother tongue Hindi. But for talking I am more fluent in Hindi
From age of six. But in elementary school the teaching was very very cheap.

Nice question. I am from a foreign country where English is not spoken. English, which is the most important foreign language in our country, is not taught in our schools in a good and sufficient quality (even our English teachers are inadequately equipped). That's why I think we can say that we are the only country in the world with bad English, even the worst. For example, they are looking for details in English to become a lecturer at a university, to get a job and to work, or even to work as a babysitter. A foreign language (especially English) is really important, but we cannot learn it. Since our language is a language with different characteristics, we cannot learned any language. I guess this is our worst chance. But sometimes I think "I wish we were a colony of a powerfull foreign country". Otherwise, learning a foreign language is a really stressful and extremely difficult process.
They start teaching kids English in 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade here, depends on the school. It’s mandatory for all kids and schools from 3rd grade. Many daycares also teach the kids some basic words or songs in English.
Amazing! Where are you from?
Sweden.
Do your parents also speak English? If they do, how did they learn?
I just read that Sweden ranks second in the world for profeciency in speaking English.
Yeah they do. They also learned it in school.
I know. But one guy was convinced that I would not survive in a Scandinavian country with only English.

Which non-English speaking country would you most prefer having been born and raised in? ↗
Tell him. The only reason I think you might want to know it is for government paperwork and job applications.
We were talking about Norway, but Norway is the same.
I am from Turkey. In my country, i dont know now generation but in my school years we started to learn in 4. Year of primary school which is too late to learn a new language. English education is not good in public schools but if you are in private school it is better.
Yes, English is a mandatory subject in school and we start learning when we're 5. Usually private schools have better English teachers with better teaching systems than public schools.
A couple people have said private is better than public schooling. It's pretty much the same in the US.
In India most good schools are of English Medium. English is the main language in my school. And yes English is taught in India since British rule as it is hugely influenced by the Britishers.
Here in Turkey , English education starts at 3rd grade in public schools.
In private schools it starts at kindergarten.
