Im getting unnecessary pressure at work and I feel like I would be way better off in another team?

I like my co workers as they are all helpful and friendly, however , my boss is a complete dick at times and threatens to fire me if I don't improve. I feel like I'm being picked on.
So as opposed to moving jobs completely I was thinking to ask the other director if I can maybe switch teams

If your boss has directly communicated to you that he is considering terminating you over performance issues, you must quickly get out of his circle of influence at that organization. If that is not possible, you should consider leaving that company asap. Many people, like me, are starting to work for themselves. This is a helpful book:
