How you got a wonder about history?

If you have which subject is interesting for you at the history? What did you research about it?

I have an interest in European naval history; sailing ships only:
Discovery voyages, military operations, commercial (trade), and such.
''Research'' sounds a bit too big; but I looked up British log-book copies, found inspiration in re-built historic ships and occasionally went to a shipping museum.
Very delightful: to visit the ''Victory'' and the ''Cutty Sark''
