DDid you ever quit a manual labor type job for a mentally stimulating one?

This is a question for those who started at the bottom as in they had to do retail or manual labor type stuff and didn't just start with an internship in tech or something. I went from retail to now i got a more mentaly atimulating job. Its low level and retailbut they pay more and its more about mental things than manual labor. Im excited cuz i was getting bored as hell at this ghetto retail job after 2yrs

I built swimming pools one summer. It was the best summer job I ever had. It was hard work but we had a lot of fun and I learned how to drive a Bobcat and use a transit. The company had a pickup truck that had a big Chevy 350 in it and I got to take it home at night. The owner used to take us water skiing sometimes.

See that's the thing... Its like if its a shorter length job then yeah i would enjoy it too. Its easy to like a job for a short period of time.

But actally after writing the question, started to wonder if maybe the real issue was that my coworkers and bosses were horrible people and so my enjoyment was more about work environment not the work itself.

Yes, I worked for a company that did computer installations and I was working with one crew and it was a great bunch of guys and the job was a lot fun. Then I got moved someplace else and the foreman was a jerk and it was like a whole different place.

Ahh see , people around you really are what a job is about. ;( unless we learn to us it to our advantage and smile in the face of adversity but its not easy for everyone to just do that

Yes and then made the manual job part of my hobby for mental and physical relief...
