Who was your worst teacher and why?

I had two. Funny enough, they were both math teachers, despite the fact that I'm good at math, and usually really enjoy it.
The first one was in 8th grade, and she was usually decent to me, despite being awful to many of my friends. She yelled a lot. I only got the brunt of it once. I have ADHD. We were taking a test one day, and I was doodling on the sides of the pages in between questions. Just drawing little cubes and stuff. She was walking around halfway through the period. I had already finished the test and was checking my answers. She saw the doodles and got really mad, saying that that's not what I'm supposed to do, that no high school teacher would be okay with it (spoiler: my high school teachers were okay with it). Anyway, she ripped the test in half in front of everyone and had me sit in the hallway for the rest of the period. I had to retake it during lunch detention. It's the only time in my life where I felt like I was being punished just for having ADHD. I also have social anxiety disorder, which at the time was very severe, and I was completely mortified. One of my friends was stuck in the hallway too that block, and he distracted me. I didn't tell my parents because I thought they would be mad at me, but I ended up telling them years later. My dad said that he would have called the school and gotten the teacher in trouble. Even years later, hearing about it made him furious at the teacher.
The other teacher was in my sophomore year of high school. She refused to admit when she was wrong, which was a lot. One time she took a bunch of points off of a big test because I didn't answer the questions the way that she wanted. I checked with several other teachers in the department, and my father who was a math professor at the time, and my answers were completely accurate. I may not have reached them the way that she taught us, but they were still completely accurate, and she didn't say in the instructions how we were supposed to reach the answers. So I answered them with a trick I had learned from math team, rather than doing the algebra the slow way. Anyway, she took points off, and I asked her to give them back, and she wouldn't. She wouldn't even admit that the answers were technically correct. So I wrote twenty-three pages with about eight different mathematical proofs explaining why my answer was correct. (I still have the packet saved. It amuses me). I figured she would be okay with that, as we were learning about proofs in class at the time. She wouldn't even look at it.
I've had plenty of other teachers who haven't known things, but that's fine. I don't expect teachers to know everything. I'm a teacher now, and I don't know everything. But I have a problem with teachers who are too proud to admit when they don't know things, and I have a problem with teachers who aren't willing to help their students. Because what are they there for?
I went to a strict Christian school for 8 years, we would read the bible every morning. I remember one morning we were reading a chapter that was something along the lines of when kings go to heaven they will bask in the deaths of the people they’ve killed and drink their blood, something like that.
So I asked my teacher why god would let murderers into heaven and drink blood, if god is supposed to be good. Her face went red and she gave me detention for a week.
Then a few months later I befriended a boy at the school and we’d eat lunch together during our breaks and play games like tag or soccer. She put me in detention for a month and accused me of being that boys girlfriend, and no matter how many times I’d say he’s just a friend, she’d shut me down and yell at me, forcing the narrative of me and that boy dating. I was like 9 years old and it was an innocent friendship. My mum got called into the school and she almost laughed in the teachers face for the ridiculous accusation and punishment.
This teacher was pretty horrible to all the students so I didn’t take it personally.
I had a professor in grad school that taught a course in Assembly Language. It was an 8 week course that was taught in the summer. There were weekly projects assigned that had to be done on the college mainframe. This was before the internet. I was given an account for the mainframe but when I went to campus on Saturday to do the assignment the account would not work. I explained this the next week so he gave me a different account. On Saturday it was the same story. This went back and forth for two more weeks. It was getting late and the final was only two weeks away at that point. I told the prof that I was going to drop the course. I told him I could not study for the final and do the assignments and work my full time job all at the same time. In the program I was in if you got more that 2 C grades you got kicked out and I already had one. He told me that I could study for the final and pass in the assignments later,. He would give me an incomplete until I did. I asked if the final was going to be all about the assignments and he told me it would be right out of the text.
So I took the final. It was all about the assignments. I had no clue and figured I would just take the incomplete and take the course over again. I got a 16 % on the final and the prof told me that even if I passed in all the assignments I would still fail and he would submit an F.
I made an appointment to see the dean and explained to him what the deal was. The dean said he did not get involved with disputes over grades. I leaned in really close to him and said softly, "Well, I wonder what a judge would say about this if I litigated it?" Then the dean said he would look into it for me. I got to my office in about 20 minutes and the prof called me up all apologies. He told me I would get an incomplete and I could take it again in the fall.
I took the course over again with a different prof and got an A-.
Well…character-wise, probably the Jesuit priest who molested kids. But he didn’t molest me, I actually thought he was somewhat cool, but it turns out he was a pedo, so fuck him but that’s probably not the answer you’re looking for. Plus that brings down the room lmfao.
I’ll go with my 6th grade history teacher Mr. Lewis. He sucked. Too much of a hardass, taught way too seriously for our grade level, gave way too many notes and homework, and he wasn’t nice, it wasn’t like “he’s tough but he just wants to bring the best out of you”, his vibe was more like “I absolutely fucking despise children and have made it my mission to torment them daily while being paid for it.” I remember he was yelling at a kid for not having his homework done, the class goody-two-shoes chimes in (admittedly unsolicited and done annoyingly) and just announces that she hasn’t missed a homework assignment yet. This guy goes, “can I see last night’s?”, she proudly hands it to him, and he walks over to the window, shreds it up into pieces, and throws it out the window. “You just missed your first one”, he tells her, and she of course starts crying, and he pays it no mind and goes back to yelling at the first kid. I fucking hated that guy.

Mr. Tully, a 30 year old divorced dickhead who showed up to school drunk half the time and openly told his students - mainly me - how much he hated them. He was snide, condescending, a pseudo-intellectual, and (by modern standards), would be a Liberal. Think of Charlie Sheen, but without the charm or "class." Oh, and he was our Communications teacher, so not even a real study. He worked in advertising before teaching.
This was 2003, and the internet was barely a thing, so he could get away with it. He was also sleeping with one of out classmates, Sherri, who was 17 at the time, and it was an open secret and pretty much everyone but the teachers knew it.
I'm a teacher nowadays and realize how much of a piece of sh*t he is. I hope he got AIDS or COVID or something. He truly was a piece of trash. Even the worst students I ever had I wouldn't treat with the disrespect he treated me.
And I was depressed, mentally ill, and going through a crisis at the time, as well. If I wasn't so focused on other things and legitimately had enough of his sh*t, I would have been the type to stab a pencil in his eye and then take some scissors and stab his dick as hard as possible before twisting it. Like I said, I was mentally ill and not exactly "safe" back then. But I had other things I was focused on, like trying to fix my Precocious Puberty.
Only now in my thirties am I stable enough to tell him to go f*ck himself and die of COVID or something. He's probably 50 at this point. I hope he's miserable.
One of my high school art teachers. I had the highest grade in class, but she didn't like that I slouched in my chair and dropped my grade down to a "D" within one week even though no assignments were turned in during that time so it was impossible for grades to change. She claimed I did no work in class because I slouched in my chair and she couldn't explain how I always turned in every assignment on time.
She also kept funds for herself instead of using them for class supplies like she was supposed to do. She would get smaller papers and poor quality crayons for supplies when large papers and colored pencils were required for assignments and then grade people down if they used the supplied lesser quality ones instead of buying their own. I overheard her and the neighboring classroom's art teacher talking about how much money they were each able to keep for themselves due to not purchasing the correct supplies.
6th Grade teacher Mrs. Conan (The barbarian)... eliminated me from anything playground or lunchroom related to the point of not even knowing any other kid despite having to be there 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. It socially demented me and my grades went to shit all the way until I finally went to a charter school like in the 10th grade where I finally finished with a 3.8 GPA. She literally kept me in a corner in the back of the room all day... I wasn't allowed to speak and had to type anything I wanted to say and have her read it. Substitute teacher close to the end of the year and I was forced to go to the playground. I literally couldn't think of anything to do but sit down and watch all the other kids. I was that far removed from what this so-called society is.
I third grade I had a teacher who accused me of cussing. Knowing I hadn't said anything I refused to sign the discipline report. She told me I would admit to it or I would hey a swat.
I refused.
She was a big heavy black woman that smelled bad.
She had me grab my ankles and hit me with her big heavy wood paddle. I grunted in pain she said "you laughed" then hit me again.
I didn't speak another word in class the rest of the year refused to do anything in her class and was held back a grade because of it.
I once had an Economics professor who simply read from a textbook (she read from notes but it was clear she had taken them verbatim from a textbook).
At the K-12 level, my 10th grade English teacher was the worst. He frequently talked about other subjects (including most of the first quarter of the class) and never gave feedback on papers he graded. This was an Honors class, too.
Incidentally, a relative of mine once had Massachuetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren as a law professor. She said Warren was by far the worst professor or teacher she ever had.
10th grade lit teacher.
Went out of his way to select one or two students in class and then focused efforts to ridicule and embarrass them on a daily basis. He would also select backups if his favorite punching bag was absent. He required students to read "classic" books and took the time to highlight a few passages from them but never explained WHY those passages were notable. He assigned papers for students to write but only gave vague feedback regarding expectations. Students from families of means or status were exempt from his brand of criticism. I once had a college grad help write one of my papers and got a C, along with several less-than-constructive comments. It later came out that he was a spouse abuser, as well.
My forth grade teacher. She was a POS. I got beat up 3 times by a student in her class.. And I, not the bully, was suspended.. He broke my glasses, she gave witness stating I did it my self. She also told me that I threatened her, which never happened.. She told me that I was nothing but white trash. Worst fucking teacher ever.. Most of the female teachers I ever had were just terrible, save for a small hand full. Like my math teacher in my junior year, she really helped me with the things I was not understanding.
The one who beat me for not learning my Maths and then he was fired for inappropriate sexual conversations and harassment toward female students. I should have kicked him in the nuts day he was fired and ran off? He was a tiny man, literally lol
One of the worst teachers I had (a maths teacher) would completely ignore half the class and focus on her favourites who were all bundled up together. Those she didn't want to talk to were literally invisible to her. She would write something on the board, and expect us all to somehow just figure it out for ourselves. That's all she ever did. She was just absolutely, utterly USELESS!
So I had asked my latin professor at my lyceum a question and wanted a clarification and I don't remember exactly what she said but she basically shut me down and yelled at me while putting the file she was holding roughly with a thund on her desk and then I started crying and decided that next year I wouldn't take latin. So I had to take an extra exam to change the lesson and I picked up french.
My 9th grade algebra teacher, Mrs. O'Hare. She put the class on autopilot and her only means of getting students to do things was humiliation. She was a leech. A thief of taxpayers' dollars.
When I became a teacher, she was still teaching at the same school. I wound up tutoring several of her students... cleaning up her mess. I was disheartened but not surprised to hear she hadn't changed in the least. I shall be grateful to urinate on her grave.
Male maths teacher I hated him so much back in secondary school, why is because he believed I am meant to be 100% perfect, life isn’t like that.
One day, I was asked to solve three maths solutions, I did get two out of three , next thing he did was pulled out his belt that holds his trouser, using the belt to beat me in the process the iron part of the belt flipped reaching for my right eye, one reason why he was the worst teacher.
This made me remember that incidence Happened 9 years ago 🤦🏽♀️
My science teacher. He never explained the lesson was well (his motto was "you either have talent and get it, or you don't") and he never followed the book, he taught and asked stuff that was out of the curriculum in the exams. He just lived in a world of his own. I got good grades in most school subjects, except Science for this reason
That's easy. My 7th grade science teacher, Mrs. Lewis. She was my second African American teacher in my life, and the biggest "reverse racist" I have ever met to this day.
She tried very very hard to fail me just for meanness' sake, and I still managed to pass the class.
Grade school teacher who told me it was impossible to measure distances on curved surfaces/lines. I was only 9 but knew he was wrong. I made a joke that he got his degree in the mail & he got all butt hurt and outed himself as having a mail order degree.
One teacher hated me for no reason I’d ask for help and she wouldn’t help me so I asked my mom to help me with the math one day and it made so much sense old school math!!! They do weird math now so I was getting the answers ALL RIGHT but it wasn’t the teachers math way so she’s give me an F on all my test. My mom came up to school she never bothered me again.
Uncle Eke. He was so scary. I was in class 4 and he handles class five. I couldn't sleep as I neared graduation to class 5.
This guy's class is as quiet as a grave yard. When you hear "uncle Eke is coming" everyone runs to their seat and stay silent. If he catches you, you're gone. He will punish the hell out of you. Luckily we moved and I didn't have to be in his class. I was so happy and relieved.
I have two my 4th grade teacher and my 6th grade English teacher for example in the 6th grade during class my teacher heard a phone go off and she wouldn't let anyone leave the classroom until the phone she heard was in her hand and she even made us empty our pockets to show we didn't have a phone on us and my fourth grade teacher was just mean to all the students
In high school, there was one. She used to hate every single student. Would punish them in weird ways possible.
She'd always find a way to bring up a celebrity topic in class.
She'd put the pen between students fingers and crush em just for punishment. She was into physical punishment.
Not going to say the name but was my math teacher in 9th grade. Just came in, put the homework on the board and sat and read computer books all class, passed everyone even with no work turned in. Don't think he teaches now.
Damn You look Good
My 8th grade math teacher. Mrs Horton. This was in Texas and she was a hateful, Bible thumper Baptist, narrow minded shrew ! I hated her with a passion. I’m told that she had a heart attack and stroke at the same time. And was dead before she hit the floor. I’ve always thought it was her Karma for being so nasty.
My female high school teacher. Most students had very little to no respect for her considering she was incredibly strict. If you didn't sit in your desk right or did something a little off,... you were automatically disciplined for your actions or most likely get an automatic detention. She would also embarrass you in front of the class. She passed away in 2007 or 8 or something like that, but even after she was already long gone, I still have no respect for someone like her.
My High-school PE teacher called me a idiot, so I flipped out and tried to fight him, and got expelled. Then they told me at 15 i should have been the bigger man to a 34 year old calling me a name lol
In 3rd grade i hated her she was a new young teacher but I still told her something she used to get in my face and thought she was scary lol she hated she could not check me.
5th grade gym teacher who was 400 pounds. He sat there the whole time and made us ran. That was gym.
Too many to count. When I was in high school the faculty was packed with WWII veterans who had received degrees on the GI Bill. While I appreciated their service during the war, most were teaching for the paycheck and a pension.
I absolutely hated English in any grade. The funny thing is. Now I catch people using the wrong words when chatting online and speaking in person to them. I don't try to correct them. I just smile and go on about my business.
My high skool physics teacher was too smart to be a good teacher. Physics was so simple for him that he couldn’t dumb it down for someone who couldn’t grasp a given concept. Ell oh ell! I admired his brilliance, but hated him as an instructor.
Matt I think was his name he was one of our high school math teachers and he well didn't teach, just sat there at his desk messing around on his computer.
He was a horrible teacher.
My middle school math teacher, worst he taught for 3 FREAKING YEARS
It was a nightmare, I was a timid introvert back then and he made it hell for me. His slaps still feel stinging on my cheek now
I had 3 professors who did not like me and would lie about how many questions I got right on tests but no bad apples during my last 5 semesters.
To be honest all were good none were bad and a few were absolutely excellent the difference was how personal and caring and or just knew how to explain something to you.
i had a teacher who kicked me out of the class for asking to go to the bathroom. she was such a bitch.
Well, sounds like you were able to get to the bathroom though
@yourpalval yeah, the only problem was that before she kicked me out, she screamed at me in front of everyone and told everyone that i was the reason we couldn’t do anything fun in class anymore (we were watching a movie at the time). than she wouldn’t let me back in the classroom.
I think my worse teacher was my geometry teacher. He didn’t give a f, he would write down problems on the board and expected answers without explaining nothing. Same thing with the homework assignments.
Some burned-out alcoholic near retirement who went ROAD* on us.
* Retired On Active Duty
She was older an always had to rub my shoulders an tell me I was cute I had to stay after class once an I swear it was scary to think of this teacher getting aroused by me she was not pretty an dint have a nice personality
My old chem and English teachers were the worst, they were such slackers and so bitchy and absolutely didn’t care about us onky about turning up in makeup and gossiping in the staff room
math teacher in high school was so lazy never helped anyone could not even sign his name to papers had a stamp to do it good thing I was very good at math would have never passed the class if I needed help
My geography teacher. She was full of hatred and had some inappropriate comments.
My 5th grade teacher was a pedophile. He was also a lousy teacher.
My seventh grade Social Studies Teacher was miserable
Had an English teacher tell me words didn't exist all the time even if I showed her they are in the dictionary.
I had a teacher who got arrested after being caught inviting kids to his home and molesting them
Mrs. Larson. How she ever graduated from college is beyond me. Dumb as a box of rocks.
I had a teacher in 7th grade named Mrs. Larson, she was my English Teacher... and horrible. She had had my brother the year prior to me, who was not the best student (academically) and so she automatically assumed I would do the same. She would erase my name off of assignments and tell my parents I hadn't turned anything in, but I'd find them in the "no name" bin all the time, and it was obvious the name was erased, and you could still faintly see it... so I started writing my name in pen, and she docked me points for doing so. It was a no-win situation with her...
oh god I sad so many. There is at least a top 3.
My high school geometry teacher. Just a very unfriendly person
6th-grade math teacher because he almost raped me and killed me.
My second grade teacher she just did not like me
Sister Joaquin…
The one who tried to have sex with me.
I’ve always had good and cool teachers.
I have an endless list lol
Puberty time and exes
mr bob
no idea
