What are some common interview questions?

"Tell me about yourself."

I don't give a damn about you being a certified SCUBA diver, I want to know about your work history and background. This is where you sell yourself to me, so take as much time as you need.

"What were your responsibilities?"

Focus on the responsibilities that most closely align with the job. Also, even if you only supervised someone once, let me know about it.

"What were your starting and final levels of compensation?"

What did you start out earning and where you making when you left you previous job?

"What major challenges and problems did you face? How did you handle them?"

For me, this is the big one. Everyone does great work on a great day, but what about bad days? Can you figure out solutions when there is a problem? How are you at problem-solving? Do you enjoy a challenge, or do you get nervous when something goes wrong?

"What is your greatest strength?"

Tell me what it is that makes me want to hire you. Don't be humble. Lay it all on the line. If you haven't had a sick day and five years and haven't been late to work in ten years, tell me about it.

"What is your greatest weakness?"

"We all have them. If you don't work well in a group setting, admit it, but don't confuse weakness with strength. "I don't work well in a group unless I am the one in charge." That's not weakness.

I've interviewed countless people and could go on and on. Bottom line is to have an answer for every question. Good luck

4. Where do you expect to be 5 years from now? 10 years?
5. If you left your previous job, why did you leave?

Some interviewers may also ask:
A. What is your best strength? Tell me about a situation where you used it
B. What is your main weakness? Tell me a situation where you had to deal with it?
C. Do you prefer working alone or in a team?

Note that it's generally against the rules for the interviewer to ask personal questions: age? marital status? children? own or rent? etc.
