What would you do if your a manager and fired someone and then upper management brings them back?

Like say you fired someone and had legit reasons and management had your back initially and then you come to work one day and that person is on the schedule. What would you do?

I'm not taking responsibility for their fuck ups. If upper mgmt brought them back, they can deal with the issues that brings to the company.
