Why are African-American schools poorly funded?

Some African-American students aren’t making any money, and they can’t afford to give Black students a good, and better education.

What type of schools you talking about, most Historical Black Universities are private schools so they rely on tuition and alumni contributions. Just like any other private college does. And lets be honest over 80% to 90% of their student body is black... so they are not very diverse, a lot less so than any other state or private schools.

If you are talking about public schools well by and large all public schools are under funded, and there are no such thing as black public schools. Public schools are funded by property taxes, so the poorer your area is the lower the home values are and the less tax revenue there is from property taxes. Then after the fire departments, law enforcement agencies and all the other municipal and county agency get their share... schools are at the bottom of the rung for whites and backs alike.

It’s not just black communities it’s about poor communities of any race
The country gives money to the rich kids so rich kids can put more money into the government.


It’s significantly harder for a poor person to be successful so the government doesn’t want to fund them. Unfortunately due to the history of red tape black communities are largely poor so as a side effect they are a large percentage of the poor people.


While I do not believe it’s racially motivated I do believe that black and Hispanic communities do need better schooling.




Here’s my philosophy when it comes to poor communities. Instead of giving them money give them the opportunity to make money.
As the saying goes “give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for the rest of his life” which I feel is the approach we need to take.

Do you mean schools in primarily African American neighborhoods? Maybe because most of the neighborhoods that AA live in are not wealthy, or even middle class. The towns having these schools have to vote on whether or not they agree with the school budgets, and people who don't care about education for others, won't pass on budgets for the schools they live near because they don't want their taxes in their towns to increase. It's a continuous circle that is very hard to get out of.

I don't know if you're talking about HBCUs or K-12 schools, but there aren't that many schools at the K-12 level that are almost entirely black anymore.

Big city and suburban schools are usually not poorly funded. Some rural ones aren't.

They are Public Schools which means variety in schools. There are no Asian, Hispanic, White, Black schools...
