I graduated economics from university with some of the top grades out of my cohort. But I also had a great time so managed to study hard when I needed to , as well as socialise a lot.
When I graduated university it was just following the covid-19 pandemic. It took me around 6 months to get a job kind of using my skills gained from university.
The role is to be a data analyst for a busy airport within the U. K. when I attended the interview the role seemed great. It seemed they was organised and had clear scope as to what they want me to do.
When I joined I enjoyed my first month. They organised tours of the airports , to meet various people throughout and to travel to sister airports to learn.
However , after that. It was clear it was not as organised as I initially thought. They don’t have and never had a team of analysts , clear performance indicators for what they want to report on. It takes there IT team months to gain me access to the right systems to extract data. Some of which , I still don’t have access too.
When I met departmental owners who I am supposed to work with to produce to reports and help them be more efficient. They focussed more on defending themselves to hide that they haven’t really been doing much work at all to be more data driven.
They sent me off to learn all these fancy ways of creating reports and to see how good other airports air. But then when I returned with ideas no one wants to put them into practice.
my manager asked me to pick up monthly reports which was never done originally. I was excited, but when I submitted them to her for review she never gave me feedback and kept delaying meetings to provide feedback because she was too tired.
I was placed in the wrong team with people completing work irrelevant to my role. Therefore , I never fit in. I am the odd one out. They talk behind my back because I decided I wanted to up skill and study a postgraduate degree. Therefore , get jealous.
