How long do you stay in the sae position before moving to the next level at work?

I heard 1 year to learn the role then the next 6months to a year to get the next position, never staying in the same position for more than 3.5 years as it shows lack of drive.

In Corporate with Standards one has a month, after passing the 80 hours of training while doing your new job, to become proficient. When I say Corporate I mean a Halliburton or Pfizer.

90 day review, 6 month review, and decision to keep another year before long-term possibility is made. At any time, one can be fired and often dependent upon Economy and Company bottomline.

I think it depends on the type of job and the company that you work for. In my former job, I was in charge of a section of the facility, but I was not the manager. The next step up was manager but I wasn't the type for being a manager. The company that I worked for understood that and it was cool.

That's all relative. And doesn't always matter.

Do you want more responsibility but higher pay and possibly more stress? Less responsibility but less pay and less stress?

My company has levels but your role within that level can vary widely. And the pay range is huge too. So moving up levels may not even increase pay.

It all varies. Financially and emotionally chase the least effort position for the best pay... don't just chase the next thing.

But if you're content, meet your financial goals, then why worry about staying in the same "role" so long as you keep your skills up and get raises that keep up with cost of living adjustments.

It all depends on the company and if there's a position. Where I am, we go by levels. I'm a level 1, got my paperwork turned in for level 2 and waiting to hear about it. I've been here 1 year and 4 months.
