What should I do all day at work when I only have to work one hour a day every Tuesday?

So my new Winter 2023 teaching schedule kinda sucks. I have SIX classes on Friday! That's six hours in a row of teaching! And on Tuesday, I only have one class.

Yeah, they scheduled me to where I only have one class in an eight hour work day. I have three on Monday and Wednesday, which is typical, and two on Thursday. Honestly, I'd rather have three classes Monday through Friday, totaling the 15, instead of one day of almost nothing, and a full heavy workday on Friday.

I meet with these students only once a week, so I have to teach a total of 130 students a week, with an average of 9 students per class. It's more work than it sounds like, because I'm not meeting them with them two or three days a week, like other English academies, but just once a week. Hence, the 130 kids.

But that's beside the point. I now have to come in to work every Tuesday, starting this week, until February, just to teach one class a day. Not that I'm complaining. It's just weird. Besides grabbing lunch, I have to stay in the building from 1pm to 9pm, for contractual reasons (although it's not enforced much by the boss; it just looks bad if they visibly see they're only paying me to work one hour a day every Tuesday; at the very least, me being on-site makes it seem like they're getting their money's worth out of me.)

What should I do all day while in the building? (Besides waste time on GAG, like I'm literally doing right now.)

That's a whole lot of time to fill. I'm guessing it would be frowned upon if you took to some hobbies, while at work, and reading is certainly enjoyable. Exit 7 has some pretty good advice that makes sense. Your artistic renderings would be a lot of fun, perhaps you could write those who are close to you across the pond and surprise them with real letters?

No one cares if I do certain things online, but the only real thing I'd want to do that involves leaving my classroom, would be going to kickboxing class, which closes at 9:30 and I'm usually off work at 9pm. I could leave an hour early and no one would even care (other teachers leave early and come in late, all the time), but I'm not technically supposed to. Besides, I kinda don't feel like doing martial arts when it's 18 F/-7 C every day right now; colder than a witch's tit.

Sounds like you have to walk to the martial arts class. I don't mind the cold, but I bundle up pretty heavily during the winter.
You don't seem like the type of person that would do what everybody else does, so I'm guessing it may not sit right with you to leave early/come in late. If co workers/supervisors aren't looking to get you in trouble/tattle, perhaps you could do that from time to time.

You are correct about that. Even when I'm 5-10 minutes late, which is rare, I still feel very bad about it, even if no one else notices or cares. If anything, I end up coming in to work 30 minutes early more often than being 10 minutes late.

can't you find a book or online program you could take to keep your skills current? I am actually dealing with this now. I am trying to integrate Zoom and Teams into our videoconferencing rooms because we seem to be less busy than usual. Or maybe do some more AI renderings of GaG members (not me though). 😊😊😊😊

There hasn't been any good shows in a while. All of the Marvel/Disney+ stuff is trash, not that I use Disney+ or anything that you have to pay for. And I only watch like 10-20 minutes worth of YouTube a day; not that much. Anyone got any show suggestions?

I don't pay for any shows lol and Severence, Upload , The Peripheral, YOU, Dexter, From, Bosch, King of Tulsa, Sopranos, Sons of Anarchy, S3 and up of the Mayans all previous seasons are whack. Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Power, Power Book 2, Power Force, Raising Kanan but you have to watch thr first Power and 2nd one to understand the the rest, Seal Team, five days at memorial, Cobra Kai, Borderlands, Terminal List, all of us our dead. Black Bird, We OWN this city, The WIre.

You could study up on trading stocks or something else you want to learn or use the time if you have to grade assignments so you don’t do that during off time.
