The typical definition, at least in the U. S., is that they are a person who works with Youth (most normally grades 6 or 7 through 12) in a church setting. They might be a paid employee of the church or a lay volunteer. They would be responsible for youth programming, activities, youth Bible education, etc. It is a REALLY REALLY REALLY important role in a church if that church wants to thrive.
