Is my employer pushing me out?

I've been at my job for almost 5 years it is a film catering business so sometimes there is no jobs for a little bit. We've just received an email saying there may not be any work for me. But there is a new job starting and they have said they have partially crewed this team already. I'm one of the longest employee that has been there at this job and I think I should get dibbs before any newbie? Thoughts guys

As for me I’ve been on the job for sixteen years & in sixteen years I’ve seen so many changes & more changes will happen down the road & I just have to adapt. Some say if the going gets tough the tough gets going & as for you if there isn’t any work maybe it’s time to move on or branch out on your own or find something new.
