Yes, there is such a word but it's not often used. Most people would go with unfortunate rather than misfortunate.

Misfortune and misfortunate are definitely a proper language word. Sometimes, it is easier to explain this with synonyms and antonyms. Like disastrous or unlucky or unfortunate are synonyms..

Either unfortunate or misfortune. Those are the only ones I know of.
