You're putting the cart before the horse here. Before choosing any path, determine where you want to end up. Yes, living in California, I could get to the ocean by heading east, but would that decision make most sense? Picture your lifestyle and what you see yourself doing 20 years from now. What are the most effective and efficient ways of getting where you want to be? This is a personal decision, and the answer will be different for different people.

If you want to be a homemaker, just make sure you are intelligent enough to carry on a decent conversation with your partner, so he doesn't get bored, and make intelligent decisions that don't complicate his or your life.

If you want to be a professional, research the requirements of that profession.

There are opportunities creative people can have that will help them hone their talents.

Most trades offer programs that will give you the skills you'll need for the job.

You don't need a college degree to help others, though some positions do require a degree or license.

You don't need a degree to own your own business, but, hopefully, you'll hire qualified people to do what you're not qualified to do.

College system it itself is very broken, If a person wants to become a doctor or a lawyer or an engineer, collage should focus only on all the things that those type of degrees need, unfortunately this is not how their system works. For every class that you actually need you have to take 3 that are completely useless and irrelevant for your major. That is a HUGE waste of people's time, energy and money.

Not only that, but I know a lot of people who went to trade schools and actually own 3 times more then their college graduate buddies with their 4 and even 6 year PHD degrees.

You asked an interesting question. I do would like to say that college is garbage because of their broken system, but at the same time you do need to know certain things and do have to have a certain level of mental standard when you are applying for certain jobs. I would say 50% 50%

The first two years of college have different requirements than the rest of it because those years are designed to expose you to things you may not have previously considered as a career. Eighteen-year-olds are rarely mature enough to know what they want to do with the rest of their lives. The courses are not useless.

If you have a high IQ and connections and good social skills, than it’s not essential but it will be a lot harder to get opportunities without one.

It really depends on what you want to do.

Do you want to be a lawyer or engineer or doctor or vet or the CEO of a company? Yes, college is a requirement.

Do you want to be a model or movie star? No.

And then everything in between.

Try to figure out what you want to do and then research what that job field requires. Then do that.

No, everyone have their own way of life suitable for them.

There many a human who are accomplished and/or happy without ever having gotten a college degree.

So follow your path in life. But it might be worth consideration too. After all, if you do not consider some paths you might be missing yours among them. So it's up to you, not up to society or opinions of others.

No. College degrees are absolutely not necessary today, but most people benefit from having some higher education.

Lemme put it to you like this; if you ask yourself what you want to do in life, and the answer isn't immediate, specific, and you don't have an immediate action plan to make it happen; you'd probably benefit from taking some classes at your local community college.

It depends. Do you want to be a profession? Like doctor, lawyer, engineer, accountant, teacher, nurse? Then college is necessary. If you are planning on getting a degree in gender studies, it's not worth the paper its printed on.

Likewise, if you're good with your hands and enjoy building and fixing things, trade schools are a much better option.
