Examining assumptions about assertions. Your own, other people's and implicit ones.

It's especially important when people are trying to get you to agree to something.

"Kills up to 100% of germs!"; 1% is "up to" 100%.

"Half price! For half a year!" (of a miniumum 2 year contract) means 1/8th off, but it sounds a lot better.

"I won the election in a landslide!".

"Tucker Carlson says Trump was the best president ever!".

Jan 6 was orchestrated by "the feds"/antifa to... keep Trump in power? What? Why?

All the violence was on the west side of the Capitol, so Jan 6 was peaceful.

It is when you can intelligently examine some object or situation and use multiple disciplines to make a plan on how to deal with it.

Questioning what I hear or believe. The ability to challenge ones own beliefs and "knowings".

I guess it's like having your own "nice" self critic to analyze.

That said it balances with sanity... if we constantly challenge yourselves, we wouldn't be able to walk. There has to be a foundation in our life...

When someones comes up to me and tells me a "fact" about something, that I don't immediately believe it and instead turn on my brain and take that information with a grain of salt
