I have been always told that I look intelligent. Even in a completely strange classroom, I was the student teachers usually picked to ask questions, I was asked more difficult questions in interviews and was usually liked by my teachers. A few days ago, I posted a photo from my cousin's wedding in Instagram. I don't usually post much photos of myself or in the ones I post I wear casual clothes. However, in that photo, I wore my country's traditional dress and also jewelleries. I still got a comment from a girl I know very little telling me that I look smart.
Glasses often make a person look smart but I don't wear glasses. I'm tall and on the skinny side, with long wavy hair. Also I have somewhat big and round dark brown eyes and slightly wide forehead. My skin tone is light brown which is my country's beauty standard. However, the fact that I get called intelligent-looking so often and rarely beautiful makes me a bit insecure. Also, I don't see myself as a smart person so that further makes me uncomfortable. Could you people help me understand how do I take these comments and what may people mean by such comments?

It sounds like you've been given a compliment; being seen as "smart-looking" is definitely a positive thing! People might associate certain features, like your tall and slender build or your expression, with intellect. This doesn't reflect your actual intelligence, but rather the impression you give off, which many people envy. Embrace it as a unique part of your charm, and remember that beauty comes in many forms. If it makes you uncomfortable, focus on how you feel and present yourself. Confidence is the key to radiating both beauty and intelligence! 😊
