I get paid to be a critical thinker because it keeps people alive.
I have a feeling quite a few of these people suffer from Dunning-Kruger Effect because there is no way that the number of male critical thinkers here is 80% when the majority of males were 2020 Trump voters/supporters. Supporting Trump indicates one or more defects in the thinking process.

People with extremist views less able to do complex mental tasks, research suggests

Critical thinking is vital to my job. I walk onto complex jobs - many that I had no hand in designing or installing - and I have to figure out why they aren't working and how to fix them... without breaking anything in the process. And while I always ask the customer for as much detail as possible, I have to be careful about believing them, because half the time they're making assumptions that aren't true in the first place.
If I wasn't good at critical thinking, there's no way I would be successful.
I think that's a logic tree. Is that the same as critical thinking? I'm not sure.
@kingofthellamas Well, the person I'm following behind didn't necessarily possess a lot of logic, so a pure logic tree would fail. LOL.
Yes but I've notice most so called critical thinkers just make things fit their first gut opinion anyway. We never get the right answer just the answer we want.
in your opinion though should we not trust our gut instincts, at least at first?
In what way does that relate to critical thinking? I think I might have a different definition of the term to you.
I do a lot of critical thinking amd get myself even more confused lol
But it is easier to be objective towards other people problems than your own i feel

I also like to look at things and find out how much you can see from a limited amount of information.
This question has a lot of personal bias for a person. A person is gonna always think there better or less better at this than they actual are.
Therefore i don't think telling you there a good one or bad gives a good representation whether they are not. Now i am gonna say Pro due to the evidence people say i think about things too much or often have the minority view to other's due to thinking on things longer. But of course my personal bias could cloud this answer.
Having a strong understanding of science, math, and economics helps a lot. When you know what is possible it's easy to reject bullshit like astrology, homeopathy, creationism, Nigerian scams, etc.
I was a successful international management consultant for the majority of my working life so "Yes" I am a skilled critical thinker.
Spent 30 years in management, critical thinking comes with the job. To make any decision you must weigh everything and everyone involved or you are doomed to fail.
do you use the same critical thinking skills away from your job though? like reading or watching a news story that may or may not have some holes in their narrative they're trying to convey?
Most everything I do. I tend to over think things at times instead of letting go and seeing where it leads
Im great at critical thinking... as long as no number crunching is involved
I had a lot of education for this, and I do it routinely as part of my job.
I am a critical thinker for sure. I also graduated from Law school :)
Yep I do unlike most people on here lol
I do both.
