I’ve started a new job why is everyone telling me they had lots of people just quit?

"We've had a lot of people quit" is really just a different way of saying "People do not like it here. And because a lot of them don't, there may be good reason for it.".

A lot of common things people say are silly like that. Take for instance the teacher saying a lot of people will fail their class. So that just means they are bad at teaching it or it is poorly designed. The usual handle stress, high pace and varied work? That just means, unless you're a firefighter or something, that things are poorly organized and they are consistently understaffed.

It is simple red flags to look out for. As long as you have the luxury of choosing a different place, it is normally good to do so.

That's what the inflationary economy is. Before they could treat you like shit and they could fire you or not hire during a job interview. But during covid people had unemployment checks and they got a better job or run businesses better than the companies they worked and they treat people better too.

So now companies are desperate for workers. A lot of people are on welfare and they don't want to go back to work and be treated like garbage. So the employees are now the ones with all the power and companies have to pamper you and make you feel good now.

This place is awful I’m going to resign tomorrow and move on. Horrible conditions in that place leaking roof in the offices and in the factory and they are making books. Missing blinds in the office and toilets haven’t been touched since the 80s working in my dads shed would be better

And that's why they fail. I have a business now, and I treat employees really well. And that is the main reason the company I used to work for closed down. I hated getting treated like shit and didn't want that for other people. And that's why people come to me now. And you see guys like Zuckerbreg losing billions and tons of employees. He fires all his talent and then they come to people like me who care about them.

Any idea yet, what the major issue is that is creating so much negativity there?

It is probably a decent place to work if you have a thick skin, aren't afraid of graft and forced overtime, and can keep your head down. Or if you are there very short-term to bring money in. I would not recommend it if you are sensitive or keen for a good workplace culture. Management are incompetent and abusive, pay is not great, treatment as an employee sometimes verges on bullying. There are progression opportunities quickly for some, but only if they take to you (or are related to you). It can be a negative environment, but the people there are wonderful (minus management) and the casual nature of the place means it is a hilarious fever dream to go to every day.

2 weeks ago one girl went on the sick for mental health and another manager in my office resigned and he was really new.

It’s a printing company where they print and make books

Would it be a stretch to say they might be doing some illegal shit and that's why people are running out of that shit, like printing money or fake documents, if it looks like a dump then it's possible that dump might just be a cover up for the feds, basically to wash dirty money

Mostly if the company isn't new, if they struggle to maintain the place then it means they aren't fully invested in the place which leaves us with this possibility

Any owner would make their business thrive which means invest money into it to make more money, unless they have another source of income which makes me think this other source is illegal.

They just make books customers have to send in files so they are able to print them off. People just leave because it’s a dump and the people are terrible

You can only hope I guess, just seems to me like everyone just quiting like that simply cause the place is a dump seems off, I worked at a dump too but it paid me, it's not like I live there so unless something else is scaring them off I don't see why that's their reasoning to quiting, that's just my opinion tho.

I honestly regret applying there. I’m gonna put my notice in. A lot of people tell me they quit because they expect too much over time and the boss was pushing on stupid rules like they need to ask to go the bathroom

It’s a really dysfunctional workplace last week some lady stormed out crying because the owner was shouting at her. Also hearing everyone ranting out loud and looking miserable at their desks it’s awful
