i rarely studied through school because i retained most of what was covered during lectures by listening, and writing it down. I never even looked back at what i wrote, it just proved to be effective for me when listening and writing down far more than when i just listened

I would not advise that. The method that worked for me is *knowing* the material verses retaining it. What I mean is, reading your textbook, notes, etc, as soon as you know you’re going to have an exam. By the time the test rolls around, you’re very familiar with what’s going to be on it.

Probably, although I'd do it multiple times and not just on one day. You could use Quizlet to help with it too. For me, I know I am good for a test if I am able to explain everything like how a teacher would be able to on at least 80% of the material. Usually this is just done through flashcards, notebooks, and Quizlet

There's a very basic app you can download, called AnkiDroid, that's perfect for flash card studying. It automatically sequences and schedules them in a way that transitions facts from short-term to mid-term to long-term memory. You can even use pics or gifs, and it works along with most web browsers and kindle.

Use a similar schedule for list memorization. Also, don't forget to use any other tricks like mnemonics and acronyms.
