Just when you though you have seen it all. The US Navy has Harpy Daniels, a drag queen, to be their "Digital Ambassador" to try and get young people to join.

I never wanted to be abused, have my humanity stripped away, and turned into a killer. But I'm also not gay, so I wouldn't want to be stuck in barracks with a bunch of violent men. It would be like being in prison.

@sage2021 They are trying to get young people to join. I remember back in the 80s they relaxed the standards on haircuts. In the old days everybody just got their heads shaved but when I was in basic training there was a maximum hair length and a specific length of sideburns. They even allowed mustaches. This was to attract young people. They think this will do the same thing. I think it will fail. Anyone who is predisposed to join the military would never join an organization that used a drag queen as a recruiting tool.

Ex-Navy and my wife is in the Navy right now. When I was in... the guy that decided to sing "It's raining men" during a talent show went straight to captain's mass immediately for being a faggot.

Whatever direction they're trying to go in... I feel like our military is setting itself up for failure on the world stage. Eventually, someone is going to attack these kids and the facade of what they thought they were up against is going to die... and then people are really going to die.

I wouldn't, no. It has nothing to do with the military, much less promote the true purpose and mission of it.

Using drag queensblike this as a tool for recruiting only proves that it is not worth joining in this day and age. You are trying to recruit individuals who want to defend their country and challenge themselves to doing difficult things that barely 1% of the population does. It also gives them a chance to explore post military opportunities such as school and careers. By using someone like this, all you are doing is encouraging drag users to join and let them know they will be accepted and embraced to do this type of behavior where the environment is not ideal or should be entertained.

You want to do drag shows for something like an MWR event as a way to support LGBTQ, that's one thing, but don't shoot yourself in the foot even further as a recruiting attempt that is already dismal to push social issues like this thay have no fucking place in that kind of environment.

I could care less what they do during liberty when out of uniform. There are all kinds in the military, you get along, or get pushed into a corner (or off the barracks). Maybe now it's like some other institutions where you can fail upwards though. Just the double standard there is sickening, when it is so easy to catch a charge under the UCMJ.

Regardless, back to the point, my only gripe would be that it seems he's in uniform but not wearing reg footwear or hair in a bun which females are required to wear.

Those offenses are ones you can be NJPed for while in uniform, sometimes court martialed or yeeted for pattern of misconduct (I think 3 njps or court martials for the same offense?) as an other than honorable discharge. If someone wants to say as an adult that they have a hole, pole, or whatever, that's their business. On a ship, a 1 can level up to 10 with enough time and little enough competition.

When women were first allowed to serve on ships the amount of violent crime on that ships deployment went up over 10 times compared to the previous deployment. Just like with don't ask don't tell a lot of lesbians got assaulted and raped when they came out of the closet. I only saw people being discharged for being gay when they just wanted out, and that was the easiest out there was.

Maybe some of the publicity is to provide cover for the newest class that is providing a hole to have trains run on, and realizing that it can go out of hand with young, strong, immature 18 year olds really fast, and in some really horrible ways.

Combat media (making the motivational posters, videos, and what not) is also a really small MOS, like I remember I got picked up to work in that shop from being a supply clerk (there isn't shit to do most days), and there were like 6 of us, on a base that was a city of it's own.
