no, I never got into chess.
For me it has to have an engine in it to pique my interest, and a possibility of death or dismemberment helps it to be more interesting as well.
I work at a major road racing track on the safety team.
We go out whenever something happens on track.
Great adrenalin rush playing next to fast moving traffic, but what would you expect from someone that has gone into burning building for over half of his life.

I never had the opportunity to play chess with anyone, so although knowing the moves, I know nothing of strategy and fear getting trounced without ever learning the game.
Are there skill levels in online chess that are suitable for novices?

I have played against a computer and can win on the easy setting, sometimes win on an intermediate setting, but get my ass kicked on anything above that. I do like the game however but I;ll never be a grand master.
