Why does your client care?

If I was your client and you were quitting or were fired, my only immediate interest is making sure MY needs are going to continue being met despite your termination.

Your job doesn't matter to your clients in the grand scheme of things.

Huh? Your question makes no sense.

But, it's only a threat if you're telling them that you will in some way harm them if they don't comply. Otherwise it's just an ultimatum which is crappy to do to a client.
