Can an employer say that you must give them a 2 week notice before hiring you?

They can say it, but it doesn't mean anything. You can quit when you want. Do they give you two weeks notice before they fire you? Not hardly. They'll make you unemployed on the spot and go home and sleep like a baby. They don't care. Therefore you're not obligated to give them the same courtesy. I'm pro business, but they have some archaic double standards they like holding to.
