I'm thinking about putting my 2 weeks' notice in at work because I got too much going on in my life. My girlfriend dumped me a few weeks ago. It's getting more difficult working with coworker who I liked, and now she's ignoring me, and my job performances at work is going down. Family and Neighbors are now asking for my help. I got too much going on, and I'm healing over the breakup with all this going on. This is why you should never chase workers, date coworkers, or get close to them.

I'm keeping the job

You should try hard to get another job before you quit. I've heard many hiring managers say they don't like hiring people who don't have a current job. It leaves too many open questions.

On top of that, if you are unemployed, you potentially put yourself in the position to be desperate. You might take whatever is offered, even if it's not a good career move or the pay isn't up to par.

When you are currently working, you get to call the shots with a new job. Being able to take it or leave it puts you in much better position.

Maybe you know all this, but I'm reinforcing it. Look for a new job if you want, but try to avoid a knee-jerk reaction by quitting when you don't have anything lined up. It can have long term repercussions on your career.

When I was hired at my job I had everything under control and kept Mysterious until the breakup happened then the coworker behavior changed after my breakup. So yeah...

Man no offense, but you’re almost 40 and a girl you liked at work doesn’t like you like that. That should honestly be the last thing for you to be thinking about at work. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but it may be time for you to man up a little.

I know, I know I'm single for life, I get it. In my younger years, until now, I just can't find anybody anymore, I'm fine no matter what 😔

And never put in your 2 weeks without having another job. In this economy and the cost of everything it wouldn’t make much sense.
Unless you’re independently wealthy and just work for fun then I guess it’s ok, but most would question your decision.
Plus what if you start a new job and like someone else? Are you just going to hop from job to job until you find a bunch of ugly people to work with?
