Yeah, because it's considered "professional" and common courtesy- even if said boss and company doesn't deserve said courtesy. That and you don't want to burn any bridges, in case you need them for a reference, or ever need to come back there for a job.

My last job I quit last year, I gave them exactly two weeks notice (I got a job offer a day after applying for said job, so I didn't get much time to prep!) I got back to work, gave my boss my letter of resignation, and offered to train a replacement, etc...

My supervisor, being the b word, wouldn't let me train anyone to do my job: she wanted my replacement not to be negatively influenced or "wrongly trained" I guess. So I did the bare minimum until my last day, and got out of there!

... in retrospect I should have just flipped them off and left that same day, LOL. But my previous company reserves the right not to give you your PTO, retirement, and other benefits if you leave on bad terms (yeah, really). And I wanted my money dang it.

In my country you actually have to tell your employer 2 weeks in advance if you work less than 6 months there and 4 weeks in advance if you work more than 6 months there, because you can`t just quit from one day to another, just like your employer can`t fire you from one day to another. Both need to follow a proper period of time after they quit/fired. So because it is the law, I can answer with a yes, I would do so

Australia , I've always been on Salary , so you have to give minimum of one month , unless its a casual job , when I went back for a bit ( I worked ) , most would only put me on casual , so those jobs I just quit via SMS , 3 of them , possibly a little rude , but those companies were not great to me either , plus I was sick of the stress of Australia and wanted to get back to Hua Hin and no stress.

2 times in my life and currently African American men have in their jealous lower seniority have used a false accusation against me. I have always found ways to better myself in break time by studying and perfecting my job. These people back stab and suddenly cause theatrical scenes to get ahead. One suddenly walked up to me and said "You better not belittle me again". Like what the fuck are you on Crack or something? This was a shitty job so I just walked off and never returned. The other two I am and pulled through.

Yes and no. I have done both, depending on circumstance. One job, management took a bozo out of the shop, off of the shop manufacturing floor and made him my supervisor. I had not been there but only a year or so. I quit on the spot and walked away. At that point, I had a job offer from Boeing, anyway and went there immediately.

Depends on factors. If it's feasible I will. But maybe I just got a better off and they want me to start right away. Well at that point it's them or I and I think you know which side I'm coming down on. Nothing personal, it's just business. 👍

I'd say it's not even a remotely valid comparison. If you get fired because of performance, you'll get warnings. If you get laid off, you may learn about it ahead of time and get a severance package from it. So stop whining, get to work on time and dressed appropriately, and if you want to leave, give the proper notice.

You do know that regardless of notice, it's illegal for any company to deny you your final wages right? I should know, the company I worked for prior to the one I'm with now tried to pull that crap, and I went to the labor board, it escalated to court where the judge ordered the company to pay me the equivalent of 10 years worth of wages in damages.. They could have saved them selves half a million by cutting me my final check of 2000 dollars, but the owner of the company was an arrogant asshole, he literally thought he was the next Steve Jobs. In the end, I took his money, his home, ans his company from him..

Aren't you from the states? If not then I'm sorry for my assumption.. I didn't pay for a lawyer, all I did was send the department of labor my time cards and they did the rest. I didn't even have to appear in court, they took care of that. Wage theft is a serious crime in the states.
