Men have to decide too. On average they may not spend as much time with children as women do (but some men do) but having a child has a real impact on a man's career - takes time and energy away from his work.

Women don't need to take much time off from work to have a baby. Most of the time is caring for the baby / child and that can be either parent - though its usually the woman.

I agree its a bigger issue for women, but I have seen men seriously damage their careers this way too

Some probably are. But I think most women either find that balance or make thier choice between the two. At the end of the day it's about what makes you happy and no one can tell you what that is.

That's true and some women find that out the hard way. I always like to say women have equality now. And some women are free to makes as many mistakes as she likes.
