As someone who went for three whole years without a job during the late 2000’s recession, it’s definitely possible to get back in the work force. I would just be honest and say it was a mental break. More people are being more conscious about mental health these days, so it’s a viable explanation but if you don’t feel comfortable explaining the mental break (totally understandable by the way), you could always use other factors such as the economy or trying to determine what job would be a good fit for you.
