Live far from Campus or Close?

I personally would prefer living close but if you can´t imagine sharing your personal space like kitchen and bathroom with some one than I wouldn´t advise you doing so. I come from Germany and here it´s part of university that you live with other people in an appartment to save money on the appartment since most universities don´t have dorms.
I see pros and cons in both situations, I personally prefer living with other people since you´re not alone on the weekends and you can sometimes live in appartment with students of your subject. But yes there are also many cons to living with others like arguments about cleaning plans and so on.
The issue I see isn´t commuting but what happens if you find friends on the campus and they all live Warsaw do you have a problem leaving meetings with them because you have to get the train or would that also be ok for you, too. Because those situations made me try to move closer to my campus studying since I was one of the few people that had to move in a different direction from the rest.
But at the end of the day it´s a question what´s most important to you to have a quiet place to study or being able to be with other people. The financial questions comes second to that.
Thank you for this response & laying out all these pros & cons. I do absolutely hate the idea of sharing space, haha. I think that's the biggest con for me. I'm a bit of an introvert, so I don't always want to socialize either. On weekends, I don't want noise, etc. But i don't want to be lonely. To be fair, I'm a bit of a traveler so i think I'd like to spend my weekends Traveling in the country. Going to new places etc. Maybe one weekend per month. I also lived with a group of 5 girls last year for 3 months on an internship & long story cut short, one of the girls who I helped get the internship & thouvht was my friend & made sure had everything she needed before we left started hating me for absolutely no reason. I know I did nothing to her because I got along well with our other 4 roommates, and as time went, we all started hating her cause she would just be moody or gossip. Now I had thought this person was my friend, one time she'd stayed over at my house and my mom woke up at 3am to do her hair cause she had something important to do. But yeah, I guess I also wanna live alone & away cause I'm scared of getting hurt like that again. It's absolutely horrible to live with someone who openly hates you and is active trying to get other people to hate you. Sorry for giving you my life story that you didn't ask for😂😂 And I'm am English teacher online & I think living with students would get me distracted, I know myself to know this is true lol. I'd like to do my job, get my finances right, travel, study & live in peace. ( This sounds like I'm set on living far & now I'm not trying to convince you that it's for the best 😂😂😂) sorrry
"The distance between Warsaw and Lodz is about an 1½ "
1½ hours? I did that for a semester. Sort of. I was going to one college in the morning, and a different college in the evening. The two colleges were in opposite directions. The total commute was about 3.5 hours.
Doing well in college is psychological. It seems like you really don't want to live in Warsaw, with the high price, room-mates, etc. I think you will feel better, and be able to study better, if you are living somewhere that you like and can relax.
Far live.. I live in Turkey, İstanbul. My University in Eskişehir.

When I was in college, many years ago, I had an apartment that was about 6 miles (10 km) from the college. It worked out well for me.
