Should I quit my day job at this car shop?

I posted something on Facebook stating what I truly believe regarding a controversial subject I won't discuss here, but it is technically a political one and it's regarding a current event. I was stating that I stand with a particular country I love, and my boss saw the profile picture on Facebook and called me after work telling me to take it down because he has allegedly been receiving death threats. I promoted my boss's business where I work, and we're selling a car. I now feel quite bad about being honest and not being afraid of expressing how I feel. I'm Jordanian, Palestinian, and Armenian. I didn't know that my boss would receive any death threats, but this is what he told me. I hung up, but he tried calling me and I hung up on him before calling my dad. I feel like my boss is treating me like I am still a kid to some degree (I'm 23).

Well you’re acting like a kid. If your social media is in any way connected to work, you’re representing them and need to be professional. If you’re posting the same kind of political bs and delusional babble you do on here, you’re gonna run into issues

If you posted the picture on your own Facebook, then it's your choice and not his. Be careful, though. Your actions effect people around you. Don't put your family in danger.

If you are promoting his business with your personal Facebook, you should not be getting him and his business mixed up your political activism

Like others have said if your social media is linked to your workplace you really should think about what you’re posting and if it is public. Most businesses have some sort of guideline on this.


I wish it wasn’t the case and we could share whatever but it is and it’s a part of life
