If you are in a conversation and they happen to pronounce a word incorrectly, do you correct them, or just let them continue to always say that word?

I would rather have someone correct me. I don't want to sound like a jerk if I don't have to.

If they're struggling with the pronunciation or don't know the language that well, I'll correct them. But, some people just refuse to learn! I remember when I was in college in an acting class and we were doing Oedipus Rex: A Geek Travesty. I was the soothesayer. at one point, I had to be on stage with this girl who had the word, "Impugn" in her speech but, she INSISTED on saying it, "Impinge"! I corrected her a dozen times and she CONTINUED to say it wrong every time!
My ex-fiance, who was from India, couldn't say, "Rundgren" to say her life!! She loved Todd's music but couldn't say his name! I tried to teach her but she just couldn't say it.

I would rather ask about it sometimes...

what if I am the one in the wrong, lol... or what if they just have a different pronunciation than mine

there's always better way to go about it, rather that just correcting people, lol

Remember President Bush 2? He was always mispronouncing words. Then they would pan the camera over to his wife to see her reaction when he would do that. She'd get this look on her face like she was gritting her teeth and smiling at the same time. You know she had to be embarrassed. I mean she's a librarian for Pete's sake 😅

I correct them after as they might forget what they wanted to say, or might infuriate them, or embarras them (if in a group). Is best to keep it cool and "help" the person later on when alone, and make them aware of their mistake.

Sometimes I do, depends who it is, if it’s my stepdad I have to be careful because he always thinks he is right but is often not
