Should I be worried if in a job interview I don't appear excited or even desperate to get a job?

It seems to me like they only hire you if you really really really want that job. But people get older and at some point you have to replace them. It's not like asking old people if they really really really wanna retire, they can't continue a job anymore at some point.

Nah man, I wouldn't worry too much about not seeming desperate in an interview. Here's what I think:

Being too over-the-top excited can maybe seem fake, you know? Like you're just telling them what you think they want to hear. As long as you're professional and let them know you're interested in the job, that's probably fine.

And you make a good point - they gotta replace people eventually. They can't expect everyone to act like it's their dream job or something. Most folks are just looking for reliable work they can do well at.

I'd focus more on showing you understand the job duties and will work hard at it. Have some good examples ready from past jobs of times you solved problems or helped out co-workers. Let them know you're easy to work with too.

Smiling and making some friendly eye contact never hurts either. But I wouldn't stress over being the most bubbly interviewee. Just be chill and confident - that makes a good impression on its own I think. You'll do great, man! Let me know how it goes.

If you aren't excited for the job, you shouldn't be worried, because you don't want it that bad anyway. If you are excited but can't express it well, try to act excited. You have to sell yourself a little.

Naaah. Just remember, you're a rat to them. Prove yourself... and they'll keep you and give you more work. Do the bare minimum... and you're still a rat. So not showing excitement or desperation is no gurantee but at least show that you give a damn. Because if you're nonchalant about it, you might get lucky... or they think you're just a lazy son of a bitch.

Show some excitement and knowledge but no need to be desperate. Those companies often will make you miserable. When I hire someone it's because they show potential and know enough to start with for that position.
