Man, I don't know. 100k is a lot of dough for sure, but is it truly life-changing? I guess it depends on your situation.
If you're living paycheck to paycheck and barely scraping by, finding 100 grand would definitely change things up a ton. You'd be able to pay off any debts, have a nice cushion of savings, maybe take a nice vacation. Not having to stress as much about money would change your life.
But at the same time, 100k isn't gonna let you quit your job or anything. And if you're trying to, like, retire early or invest in some big business venture, it might not go as far. Living expenses keep rising too, ya know?
I'd say for most average folks, 100k would give you a lot more freedom and options. But truly life-changing, like set for life kinda money? Nah, you'd need way more than that probably.
Still, can't complain about finding an extra Benjamin Franklin in the couch cushions! I'd take 100k in a heartbeat. Who knows, maybe you could turn it into even more money somehow. But your life wouldn't do a full 180 or anything. It'd definitely help though, no doubt about that.00 Reply

For starters it definitely depends of what currency it is. If we are talking pounds, us dollar, franc, euro then yes absolutely. But if we talk about zloty, swedish/danish/Norwegian crowns or leu it is a lot of money but it will not buy you a new car. And if we talk about like Icelandic crowns or Indian rupee... no it is definitely not.
100k in us dollars IS a lot of money no matter what way we look at it.
By the expression "lifechanging" I feel like you mean that you get that amount in one payment.. like a lottery price or similar... and in that case I would say that even 10k in dollars is life changing.
But if you talk about a salary I guess it really depends of what you compare it to. If you compare it to a salary less than half that size then yes... it will be a big difference.

Well it's all about framing. I found a $20 balled up in a starbucks pastry bag at a bench in the city one time. I bought some toys for my rescue kittens and they were happy as they frolicked around, making me happy. That was a better day.
Is 100k going to make me retire? No, but it's better than a punch in the face.

Sort of. If managed properly, especially at your age, you can retire very comfortably if you put it in a managed investment account and don’t touch it until your 60s. Otherwise, it won’t change your life much, long-term, you’ll likely blow through it in five years or less.
00 Reply It depends on the currency and your location.
In South Africa if you gave me £100k or $100k then yes, it would be around R2million so I'd be debt free with money in the bank to invest and build a decent future.
In the UK if you gave me R100k that's about £5000 so not so much.
£100k in the UK invested right over 25 years might be enough for a pension. But I doubt it.00 Reply- 1 y
depends how much you have. not for long... it's nothing anymore.
question is that invested in a safe invesment... what will it get ya? answer: about $400 month. You can't live on that, barely buys food.

So if you put $100k on a cd, you make 400 a month nah the math is not mathing

5% rate of return on 100k is what? $5000 divided by 12 is $413... after tax theft is?
- Asker1 y
Well if you put it on a cd and leave it for 2 years without touching it, that’s 10k every 2 years. U can use the profit to get into real estate or the s and p 500 index funds. It could turn into good money
Any amount of extra money is life changing. Even if it only increases quality of life by 0.000000007% it's still life changing. Hell even if it decreases quality of life it's still life changing.

A one-off payment? Would help. Not sure I'd say life changing. Would still have £100k of debt. Or would be used to extend house. Will make house nicer, not change my life

1 dollar could be life changing to someone & to someone else 100k could be life changing.
