Sure. You get shafted for tax here. Cost of living is still relatively (compared to the rest of the world) low here. We don't have to pay for healthcare, etc.

Plus I like to be comfortable. I'm not arsed about having huge sums of wealth under my mat.

Not really, unless some of it was going to be invested. I just blew through about $40,000 in the past 5 years and would have even less than that if I could afford to pay a couple outstanding taxes and the mortgage my aunt left me with. It costs about another $40,000 just to die so, if I WOULD'VE been given $100,000 5 years ago, I'd STILL be flat broke.
If someone were to give me that money, now; after paying those bills, I might end up with half of it.

Not really. It's a wedding or a trip or a down payment on a small house or a nice car or some money to start investing with, so I suppose it could be life-changing on a limited basis like that.

it can definitely help you change your life but it's not that much money. I think you'd have to go in the millions, for life changing money sums

I would pay off the $50k I owe on my HELOC and I'm looking into replacing the roof of my house for around $25k.

For many/most, $100,000 is a life changing amount of money. My deceased brother left me a great deal more than that, but I am at a loss as to what do with it.

I am in the investor class. My home is paid off so I would probably just add most of that into our investments.

It depends. If you are 22 and make $30k a year, yeah. If you’re 45 with a $500k mortgage, $30k car, kids, etc $100k will help but you’re still going to work the next day.
