well quite simply. do it like the northern european countries. involve the kids in the planning of their personal learning schedule and their personal curriculum. like tell them the things they need to know about and help them planning when and how they're gonna learn it. provide support in doing it themself. cause force feeding people knowledge like in the current us education system (and the german too by the way) is highly ineffective of actually making some knowledge stick with the kids.

like you can not expect to have responsible, autonomously thinking adults ready for the economy at the end of a process that involves no responsibility or autonomous thinking of the person at any step of the way. The current school system produces a work force that may be optimal for a Fordistic industrial production system, that has been outdated for many decades now. dumb tools that do what they are told and think what they are told to think. this doesn't work in the current labour market and current society.

    change the maps.
instead of common maps use maps with accurate length, adjusting scale length by differing in different latitudes.

i mean two helicopters flying east same speed from longitude 30 to longitude 40, one over peterburg along latitude sixty, and the second along latitude 50 would have different distances! bigger difference until reaching longitude 170 [east or 170 west longitude at edge of russia, either way] which need to show on the map like a ball: north is less distance

that means curving the map edges accurately for example a map of russia or Canada should curve with longitude line like a ball. centered over the middle of russia or Canada and widenening for southern neighbors.

This is one of my dream area to work over it in my bucket list to do sometimes in future when I could able to do it and I have whole vision and plans to do or how in should be.

If i say in short, education system should be such where it could be more free more flexible and such a way that it could be customised as per persons need and requirements and everyone should be able to access it and to achieve the right knowledge to the level he really wants to achieve. No previlage no financial status should be huddle for them to get that. There should be curiosity to learn and fun to teach, motivation to try and experiment and only right knowledge to gain from right sources not from Google etc.

There needs to be an accountability in education again. Nobody wants to be held responsible for a bad outcome. I teach at a local college and I sometimes assign a term paper. I am amazed at how college students cannot write at a fifth grade level. They cannot spell even though they have spell check. They have no clue about proper sentence structure. I try not to grade them down because I feel like it it the result of a crappy public school education where everything is dumbed down because of a n obsession with making sure everybody has equity.

Nobody ever gets left back and everyone graduates.

@strateguy632 Sure, the attitude is that everyone gets to do their own thing. Bill Gates says that math is racist but I bet he would not hire somebody to work at Microsoft that could not add and subtract.

You're kinder than me. I get interns that write trash they absolutely get graded down. I had one kid in his last semester of grad school that changed his degree program because "I was mean." Okay, get more debt, that'll show me. Imbecile.

@BoopBoopBeep I teach computer science and try to just look at the technical aspects of the paper. The students are just the product of the failing public schools. They have no control over it.

I hear you, but I'm not about to transition some lack-luster smoothbrain over to another agency because they went to shite public schools. The "why" doesn't change anything... you can either perform or you can't... I'm not a policy maker.

I could see that being less problematic with computer science though, as long as they can code.

@BoopBoopBeep I worked for a major computer hardware manufacturer and often the engineers would present some interesting topic and have a PowerPoint demonstration. These guys were very smart and a few were e en MIT grads. I used to cringe at the lousy spelling and grammar I would see in some of these presentations. I guess they did not think proper English was worth the bother.

Stop educating dumb kids. We have to accept that no matter how good the teacher or how much money we throw at a school, there's a lot of kids out there who are either too dumb to learn or have a negative attitude towards education. These kids hold up the progress of those who want to learn. Most parents who send their kids to expensive schools do so not because the teaching is better but so their kids don't have their education ruined by the class idiots.

first and foremost, students starting in kindergarten have to be taught non-violent conflict resolution skills, and it has to be reinforced through the year and curriculum from k-12. Too many fights, bullying, shootings, etc.
Second, what I would do is have the students in 3-6 grade do thirty minutes of reading in the morning then 30 minutes of writing about what they read in the afternoons. Break it up. Have them read fiction and non-fiction. I'd do the same with math: 30 minutes of teaching principles in the morning, then 30 minutes of practice in the afternoon. May help with memory and reduce burnout and boredom.
45-60 minutes of recess/PE per day

bully is not due to "lack of solution" they bully wants to feel over someone. bullies need harsh deterrents.

The first step is realizing that there is no "one size fits all" solution. So trying to deliver education through one monstrous, bloated, monopoly (public school systems dominated by teachers' unions) is a guarantee for VERY expensive failure.
