Smartest thing you can do is pick a field you can tolerate. Start as high as you can. Push yourself hard ask for raises regularly or promotions. Once you hit the wall (business wall) wait 2 months ask for another raise/promotion once you are denied twice look for a different job that wants the same work for more pay. Now you get your raise. Repeat with second job and third and so on until you reach a point of income that you can live on comfortably (60k is average cost of living for reference) when you surpass that make sure you continue to make good choices and don't fall for the materialistic crap that is America. Get what you need and maybe a bit of what you want but continue building your wealth. When you have extra funds over 10k start investing that extra money in CD's, stocks, property (not right now wait for better interest rates) figure out what you like or what you can offer as a service and invest in that. Set up your own personal small business scale it. You will be far happier this way. And the most important thing. Invest in friends you can trust but not in family.

i think the best thing you can do is: do a job that keeps you afloat financially for now and do that job half assed. invest all your spare ressources into finding something you "really" wanna do. like what positive change do you wanna see in society and what job can you work to actually have an impact in the thing you wanna improve? i think that's the best start.

In general, the first thing we should always do is secure our current situation. That mainly means to excel in our current job.
When your position and future in your current workplace are safe, then you can start to check possible solutions for the future. Sometimes interests are a great way to get the dream job. Sometimes, we have already set a goal in mind, and then we have to follow the plan. But as you didn't share any details, there is nothing more to say :)00 Reply

Few people have dream jobs.
You do well where you are and plan the means and methods to move toward your passion job. Getting a better job that aligns more with your interests is also a good thing.11 Reply- 1 y
@Screenwriter That is just it. Few people have dream jobs.

If I were paid to travel around the world and rate 1000s of beaches and blog about them (or vlog), THAT could come close enough to a dream job for me.
Or getting girls and telling the internet "these are the places you need to be at if you want to get nice girls fairly easily".

Get a camera mate start doing that you would be surprised at how willing people are to pay you for it. Make a channel link some Financials and just review local beaches at first. End videos with "if you want to see one in particular let me know like sub blah blah you can also support me via (insert payment links)" something like that

Might take a while but pick 2 to 3 beaches a week record yourself at the beach spend some time chat with folks. Then do a review of the beach with some rating system. Post it. Repeat as needed.

I mean as long as you avoid the type of content he was "canceled" for you should be fine. You are wanting to do beach reviews so most of your content would be centered around the beach, the quality, the views, the people etc. As for where you post. You could stream it on twitch, Facebook, YouTube. You can record videos and post those on YouTube and Facebook. If you like people you can do little interviews with Beach goers. Rather like restaurants and bars people are more likely to visit a location based on local suggestions. So knowing if the beach goers are repeat visitors or this is their first time kind of thing can make a large difference. In addition if you take it seriously and your goal is to provide honest reviews you also could see a fairly large public change. Just as an example if you find a beach you like and it is not great due to litter if you take the initiative to clean others will copy you. Which means you can have a before and after montage video plus a before and after rating. Could even rate the beaches for safety. This is just a smaller list of what you could do especially if you want it.

Could likely do Instagram or other social media platforms as well. Thing to remember as with any business venture is it looks way bigger and more daunting than it is. So don't focus on the million steps it will take. Set yourself and your sights on 2-5 short term goals (in your case beaches) and then pick a long term goal for yourself (for example a 1 year goal) that way you can compare as time goes on to your goal.

@JacobJordan It doesn't take watching what somebody says online to get cancelled.
I think a good approach is to spread across multiple platforms, so that if i get cancelled on one, my content is still available on the other.
I avoid social media (instagram/facebook) like the plague. I want my privacy to be respected, however there are content creators like the lock picking lawyer, who has never once shown his face or body other than his hands and arms, who are doing great.
The other concern I have is that while my content would attract beach goers it would undeniably also attract the ones, that shouldn't be there (they are those, that litter it or ruin it). I am thinking how to manage that. - 1 y
That is true and valid risk the best thing to do is maintain the positive approach if you see someone littering let them know. Worst case you can just phone the police littering comes with a rather hefty fine. Generally though if you lead by example others will follow.

@JacobJordan That's good to know.
However right now I'm broke and unemployed and I got no camera. And I'm also in a city where the next beach is a big distance away from me and I do not have a drivers license.
TL-DR - I'm too broke to do anything and I am currently working on fixing my inherited financial situation from my loser parents. - 1 y
You just need a camera man. You have a cellphone right? Smartphone? Should be sufficient to start.
- 1 y
Well I don't know where you live but I would wager you can get some form of public transportation or bike to and from? Could also go with friends that have vehicles? I would say a good short term goal if you were to take said venture would be to get the funds for a better camera and microphone. Then go for an inexpensive vehicle (provided you have your license).

@JacobJordan actually i looked up on what Ko Phi Phi in Thailand used to be, a beautiful beach place but then it was posted to the public as a vacation destination. Since then Ko Phi Phi will never be the same again as its swarmed every day with very many tourists and boats and reduced area of effective use, which kind of downgrades the Ko Phi Phi island as a destination to be in. I do not want to transform other pristine beaches into what has become of Ko Phi Phi.

That is unfortunate and would be a good source of content. Even small scale getting people together to clean up former beautiful beaches. I spent many summers cleaning beaches in my home city. Didn't film it or anything wasn't looking for fame or money. After my 3rd day people started coming up and thanking me. By the second week people started joining. Third week people were getting called out for littering. 4th week city threw signs up and brought bigger trash bins. Managed to avoid the news crews that were filming. Saw the report on TV later that night and people were talking about a random man they had seen kept coming and picking trash up putting in bags and throwing it away. Didn't matter how dirty it was just kept working out. Was a rather strange moment to see people talking about me without knowing who I am.

@JacobJordan you are right. That kind of initiative is beneficial to the beaches.
I remember when i frequented a particular beach. By the 5. th time the person, who stood at the gates to let cars in and out approached me while I was managing inventory some steps away and told me "I've seen you around lately" and a small dialog started, to which I responded (with my terrible language skills) "oh yes. this beach is good". We've been on friendly terms ever since.
Last time I was there was in August 2021. My other friend still goes there sometimes.
I'm all for keeping beaches pristine and preserving them. I'm also for calling out litterers. However I feel uncomfortable when people start painting a target on my back, that says "BitchAssSnitch". - 1 y
Well if you don't have haters you aren't doing something right. I am a biochemist and I get a lot of hate because I and my staff can't be bought by the people that desperately want scientists to back the trans movement. But can always skip the police part if you are worried about that.

If you don't go for it you will always wonder what if. I love my work. I look forward to Monday morning and I blink and its the weekend. The days go by extremely fast. It's what I always wanted to do and it never feels like work.
