+1 yI would buy a goose neck trailer, a heavy duty truck, maybe a dully, and spend most of my time running Hotshot around the country. Then l would buy myself a mini excavator and dump trailer.
I would then drop whatever l was doing, load up my mini x, and my dump trailer onto my goose neck trailer, then l would respond to families in need after natural disasters like tornadoes and hurricanes.
I would stock up on water, toilet paper, other hygiene products, pvc pipe, pvc glue, pvc fittings, shovels and anything else to restore temporary water access to those in need. I would also purchase as many first aid supplies as l could.
Then l would head to a disaster area.
Immediately after a disaster, as such, there would be too many people for local and state governments to respond to at once or coordinate food, water and shelter.
People would be without shelter and other necessities. I would work with as many families as l could to provide temporary shelter and basic necessities like water and hygiene products humans can go longer without food.
Hopefully, l could hold out financially for as many families as possible until more aid could be provided.
I would also provide my services to help families clean up their properties as well. I think with all the debris scattered around l could help construct temporary shelters for families at their most time of need. These temporary shelters would allow homeowners to remain with their homes.
Also, by helping families to clean up their properties, that would allow them to quickly collect their valuables.
I am an individual with a good heart and strong work ethic. I am known to work myself to exhaustion and l am willing to for total strangers to account for my sins.20 Reply

+1 yIndie video game development. It's what I did growing up making games (just freeware games I'd initially share with friends, later published on internet). I really enjoyed that so much.
It's currently my retirement dream but if I had tons of money and endless free time, that's what I'd be doing now.
Some people have suggested I work on them bit-by-bit in my spare time but my brain can't handle that when I have my current job as a VFX programmer. I already slack off too much (I should really be coding right now rather than using this site).
I do all the art, music, writing, design, and programming for my games and it's a monumental task. So I need to devote my full attention to it. Thus, retirement dream.

Was it a bad choice for me to start solo indie dev work before getting everything else? 🤔 (house, car, wife, etc). Sometimes I wonder if I should pause it.. but then I get frustrated and impatient and just start back up again lol.

@TheSpaceGnome To me it's easier when we're bachelors. I think at least it helps if you want to make games on your own to do it mostly when we're single.

Its actually harder for me being single, because when I do get married, she would need to be basically a "female me" (mentally) so to speak, in that she'd also be an artist who loves video games and wants to make them.
Had I found her already, I'd be co-oping the game development with her, halving my workload/speeding up development.
It's just that finding a woman like that is hard to do, and I don't want to put off my game forever having had no luck so far in finding her, so I've been working on the game solo.
I also thought it might be easier to find a woman I can relate to if I'm known for my work, so to me either choice feels like it has its faults and benefits I guess. I just sometimes wonder if the isolation my craft causes is going to doom my chances if it takes a long time to make because all the women i'd like will already be taken by then.
Its an issue of forced uncertainty, something I've never been comfirtable with (outside of a video game, in games uncertainty is actually great in my opinion) - +1 y
I should also note that when coding, I'm going to be far more meticulous in spelling lol. For some reason in conversations, I type too fast in an attempt to try to keep up with fast typers.
But when writing documents, I'm very slow and proof read over and over, so I'd be pretty obsessive on making sure it had no typo induced bugs, and that may result in it taking much longer than normal to develop.
+1 yHonestly probably sleep.
Right up until I'm at a stage where I feel healthy again.
Then I would hope my creative juices would start to flow.
I like to paint, draw, knit etc.
In the past I wanted this to happen but I realised that I don't have any friends.
So actually life is better with people in it.
I would like to meet and find good people.00 Reply
I would be a philanthropist traveling the world. I would live the most down to earth life, like I didn’t have any money. No one would have known I’m wealthy, I would always be the middleman, or the big man in the background supporting. Except, when I gotta act and feel pretty!

+1 yWork out, garden, volunteer somewhere with rescue animals, continue to do all the house projects and furniture building I enjoy, maybe some weekend travel, but I'd miss my rescue kittens if it was longer than that. I'd like to get back into salsa and bachata dancing.

+1 ywork on my sculptures!
it takes me like 3-4 months just to do one sculpture these days cuz i dont got the time, just imagine how fast i could make them if i had unlimited time 🤔...
well, it would probably still take like a month or 2, but still, it would be an improvement00 ReplyNothing more than I already do, time isn't the issue for me. I need more energy. So instead of having more time i'd love to have unlimited energy to where I never need to rest or sleep. I'd be an insane amount more productive.
00 ReplyI’d sew and paint my day away. Play more piano. I’d travel to some of the islands around me, even to Europe. Come back and live on a nice plot of land where I grow all my own food and look after the animals with my children.
00 ReplyI will work on projects I enjoy doing, creating and trying to help others to be in a better place
I do that now... its so hard with the limit of time as all that work takes, and the little funds I keep after paying for everything00 Replycatnapping, watch cooking shows/vlogs, baking, lighting candle or go to the park and read, taking walks, go on a mini trip (since it’s just one day), foodventure, volunteer, and more
