I'm an SR Manager... basically, I'm responsible for our server farms to work without fail, and even if something happens, our clients are not affected... it's purely a technical role with a small area of people management, as I have a team of engineers.
to work in the devops area, you must combine software development and sysop/admin skills and have at least 10 years of combined experience. Higher education in Math/Computer Science/related is always a good thing but not required if you have needed knowledge and experience.
I am a columnist for a local newspaper. How did I get here?
Having luck, asking the right people and building a network. More important than arleady knowing what you need to know to write about, is knowing where to get the information.
I was lucky to get into contact with a university proffessor who can get me the newest information in science about my topics. Building a network further was super important, so i always have the right person to ask. Helping the newspaper from time tomtime outside my column did help as well if I ever needed help from them.
