"The greatest happiness is to scatter your enemy, to drive him before you, to see his cities reduced to ashes, to see those who love him shrouded in tears, and to gather into your bosom his wives and daughters."

destruction?
@strateguy632 it's a famous quote written in jest from the Secret History of the Mongols.
That's hilarious.
@TheRealPepperPotts I had that framed in my old classroom. But I also had Dante's "Abandon all hope ye who enter" too. God HS kids are fun!!
LOL, classic!
All of the above, but with a caveat. I think true success is being satisfied with who you are in each of these contexts. If you create a legacy, it is out of sacrifice. If you create a family, it is out of love. If you enjoy your life, it is out of honest labor. If you have the freedom to be who you are, it is with gratitude and appreciation. Society tends to tout education, fame, or money as markers of success, but true success is maintaining integrity and knowing that at the end of the day, we were the person we wanted to be. And if we weren't, we can be truthful about it and try again tomorrow. Just my two cents...
Great answer @TheRealPepperPotts
@DrPepper12 Thanks!
Itās different things to different people ā plus thereās a sliding scale of success that applies to different parts of a personās life. A balanced, well-cultivated life is the best hallmark of success even though that may not equate to monetary gain, etc.
Success is becoming a cop and pulling your bully over ever 3 times a month and giving him a $300 ticket. Success is going to the local strip club after your shift and paying your highschool crush $50 to jerk you off knowing that same bully is her fiance ha ha ha haha.

All of the above but especially having a family
definitely the freedom of being myself...
I don't need to bow before anyone. I'm financially secure, work doing what I love, and my family and friends are healthy and safe.
Those could all be viewed as different types of success though creating a legacy and having a family are kind of one in the same because by creating a family you are creating a legacy.
