I am in the very lucky situation that I do live alone since I am 19 and off-campus. This is the ideal solution for me as I don't have to be subjected with all the nonsense and drama of a on site dorm where all kinds of nasty things can happen and where you must share a room with a person that has different views than you do.
I live in a place owned by my grandparents, about 8 miles from the uni and they agreed to let me have the place free of charge. I just need to take care of the garden and backyard. That does not mean I live there for free. I agreed to pay them off the equivalent of a low rent once I earn my own money.
I know I am more of an exception than the rule but it works fine for me as I am alone and can basically do whatever I want.
don't u also have a job to pay for food and other things?
No, I have an allowance from my parents that covers those bare necessities. I have to buy from my own pocket anything that is not a bare necessity like food. I have to pilfer my savings for that.
But nothing is for free. I have to reimburse those cash advances later when I am working. I may have a nice time today but I will definitely have to reimburse everything at a later date. I do feel very lucky.
oh okayyy ðŸ˜ðŸ’–
Why don't you talk with your parents about the option to move out and if they are able or willing to help you financially. That is how I did it and I had nothing to lose. Fortunately for me, I have very understanding parent that did everything to help me. Good luck.
the main reason for me wanting to move out is bc of my toxic family and i just want to be freed from them , if I depend on my father for money he'll just use it to threaten/control me bc he can just stop paying for me to learn , he just doesn't care
I do feel sorry for you and your toxic environment. Perhaps you could look into sharing a place with other girls and try to find a waiting job or something that secures some income.
I would not recommend sharing a place with guys because it will only cause frictions and you will not be able to fully concentrate on your studies. You future should take precedence over anything else.
Yeah I agree 🙂
Work full time jobs or have rich parents
