Should I live alone or live with my parents? Can you afford rent our own place with a minimum wage job?

To rent a small study it’ll be $800-$900. So with deposit it’ll be around $1600.

I make $1200 or $1300 per check. When work is busy it’s $1400-$1500

One check would be for rent $800, $50 a wk for gas if I live close to work and if I go out on weekends far maybe $20 more for gas.

food $60-$70 a wk if I eat at home.

$100 a wk for extra expenses like home or beauty makeup supplies I run out of.

my second check would be to pay my car $380 and insurance $260 , phone bill $90

so I would have $500 or $400 free for myself to save or spend to go out or shopping

is that enough to be able live alone?

if I move with parents I would need save $1600 deposit to help us move and have my own bedroom but no privacy as my mom needs my entire room for her clothes and stuff as she’s a hoarder. And she wants live in a farther city which would still be far from work and defeat purpose of me saving money.

Maybe the question should be how do I make a plan and stick to it? How do I become disciplined and stick to it

I can live with my parents in bank. All my money, so when the time comes to get a place. I will have that money to do so I will have money left over to pay rent if I ever was to get behind

How do I use this time to benefit me somewhere down the road while I have the opportunity to stay with my parents and put away money


And no matter what anybody says , i'm not going to feel guilty for getting myself , set up in the future when all this goes away , teach me how to be disciplined

Living with parents don’t mean I’ll save money. I don’t save money with them. They charge me rent and live too far in a city I hate.

So are you saying you only get paid every two weeks? So you're making around $34000.00/year and it's costing you about $25000.00 to live, here in the Toronto area minimum wage is about $42,000.00/year and for a 1 bedroom apartment plus food, car payments, insurance, gas, utilities it would cost about $60,000.00 per year so no I couldn't live on minimum wage.

Either way I need to move out I hate my parents senior apt I hate the far city they live at , I want decorate my own apt , live in a new city I want , be close to job and I plan start school this year. So I can live 10 min away from job and come home fast to sleep and wake up early to study take my class or cook & relax at home.

So I would have only $400 leftover for free each month to shop or go out but I dont have a boyfriend so I dont go out anyways anywhere. I just have a vacay planned for may. And wen I finish school I would make a lot more money obviously so I have 1-2 years more to struggle rn and have only $400 free per month to spend

You're not supposed to be making minimum wage when you're 29, you're supposed to plan your life and career so you're doing well enough by 29 to afford to support yourself properly. The enormous percentage of people who don't do this is what's dragging down this country and this economy.

Didn’t u read? I start school this year it’ll take 1-2 years to finish so by then I’ll make good money. So by 30 I’ll no longer make minimum wage
