If your job contacted you today asking if you can work the 4th of July day and night shift plus Friday would you do it?

I'm not in that situation anymore, but it was very common for one of us in my customer site team to be asked to work holidays or weekends, in support of the customer. We readily did it, with getting equivalent time off later. We were salaried, so we didn't get any overtime increase in pay.
Sure, I would do it for the coin, take another day off the following weekend and still be on the plus side. Don't have to take a scheduled holiday, just create your own. Besides, the following weekend would be less busy.
the July 4th is a normal day here :D
but even if it wasn't, I would ask why. If it's a kind of emergency and i had no plans, then why not?
I work part time and live across the country from my friends and family, so yes. I’d work, lol. Gives me a bit extra pocket money.

If I have no plans, sure I’ll work. I don’t care for beaches… if my family is having a big gathering.. then can’t work.
for my case … I did work when I was a teenager… once I got my career.. I never worked 4 th oh July.
Update - 👍.
I live in Canada so I get July 1st off and I wouldn't care if I have to work July 4th as I probably will anyway. Who wants a holiday on a Thursday why not celebrate July 4th on July 5th so you can enjoy a long weekend?
I'm working that weekend so I won't be able to celebrate
I was a slave to my job in the past, but it worked out... I am retiring relatively young for an American. If they asked me to work this 4th of July I would tell them to f off though LOL
Right, I'm more so debating if I just want it off or I should take the extra cash
Depends what the other option is as far as your holiday plans...
I would be getting double time and a half and the holiday is on a Thursday and I have to work Friday anyway.
Damn you're right. I think I'll take the money lol
Its family time i have 5 days to work 3 days to rest 20-23 weekdays 8-10 weekends in a month. I think you can afford to give me this one day off..
I agree, I just chose to do 6a-2pm the rest of the day is mine
Sure, that's time and a half pay if you're an hourly worker.
I am on vacation, but 4th of July is otherwise a pretty normal day so i would work.
yeah why wouldn't i
my bills don't care about July 4th lol
Right now? No way. Perhaps a couple of hours if it was an emergency remote task.
4th of July means absolutely nothing in my country LOL.
If I was an American, no I wouldn't even if they fired me for refusing to work the 4th July if I was an American in America USA 🇺🇲 lol 😂😆
Yes I just don't want to receive Any phone calls while doing my thing.
Not American, but I work every holiday I can. Love the OT 🤘
I'm not American so I'll be working as normal on 4th July.
I will be voting on 4th July though
It's not about celebrating nor being American 🙄. It's about being off work
Well I'd work the 4th July day and the Friday but not the night shift
I would tell them to go fuck themselves. 4th of July is like my Christmas. So fuck no I wouldn’t work!
No, I can't. I can't make a certain amount, long story
I’d ask if they were going to send me a fluff girl to suck my cock while working.
I am on call that week so I will be working on the forth and Friday too.
no friends... no family... no BBQ.. Might as well
The manager wouldn't understand the dynamics why I didn't pick up the phone.
Only if they were paying me double of what I would be making lol
Nope , it’s my birthday and I’m on holiday !
I am working the 2nd 3rd and 4th.
They couldn't afford what I'd ask them to pay me.
If they paid me double time.
would and have many times
I’m salary
