I went to the highest rated college in the world in my field. The competition was intense. There were times when we would literally study around the clock 24 hours in a row without sleep.

I later learned that they designed the tests so that no matter how hard you study it won't help you. They were designed to see how well you could think, not how well you could memorize or learn things from books.

If they gave the standard exam that they give students in other schools everyone would get an A+. These were the smartest students from around the world. The amazing thing was that the exams weren't necessarily even about the same things they were teaching in the class. They might have been about the same topic, but not examples similar to the ones that were taught. They simply could not give exams like that because everyone would get 100% on them. These kids were geniuses.

So I started studying a lot less and meditating before exams instead. It served me well when I ended up graduating with honors.

      What university was it?
As I understand, most schools want to keep kids busy and course loads were to memorize vs critics thinking/analyze That’s why I don’t take my teens kids education as serious as them.

😃 Yes, he went there some years before I did. He got his degree in real estate. I have the same real estate degree he does. But I also had a degree in two additional subjects, finance and political science (Wharton doesn't offer political science anymore although Penn still does).

Wharton as I understand is a business school.
Good job made it to UPenn. Your parents must be so proud!
My kids kept pressuring themselves to get into Ivy Leagues smh!! I don’t really care.
Real estate and finance are a great combo. What did you ended up as your career?

I was a financial analyst, held various financial management positions and ended up as a chief financial officer.

Only one position I held involved real estate. I was in the mortgage banking industry.

Yes UPenn it's definitely one of the best universities in the world. It's top of the list in a number of areas. But I am severely disappointed with their political positions recently. I hope they come to their senses and stop supporting political positions all together. It's incompatible with a proper education.

Yeah very much so, a mix of studying, doing an exam or assignment, then same for another module. At times you had to remind yourself which exam it was or if doing a detailed assignment not to put in stuff belonging to another assignment you were doing lol.

Yes I just started cheating bc I was over the bs tests. I was burned out in college bc the tests were back to back. In k-12 - it was more spaced out.

I skim through the readings, and put effort more on the assignments than the exams. I am not cramming for all that. 🤪

No. But then I never stressed over tests and did little to no studying for them. It was just another day of class for me.

Yes, I always thought that planning exams in all 5 courses in the same week was not very conducive to the educational process. I used to just spend the day cramming for the test and immediately forget all the stuff to make room for more stuff in a different course.

Yes. Comprehensive tests are the worst. I went through college of engineering. Finals week was a shit show. I had Electrical Circuits 2, Calculus 3, and Physics for Engineering fully comprehensive back to back to back.
That was exhausting. They let us take in one sheet of hand written notes. Luckily I studied hard and wrote everything super small using a 5mm mechanical pencil.

All the time 🙄 I studied and studied till my brains turned to mush. I think it's difficult but there needs to be a balance of work vs reward. You need to take meaningful breaks in-between studying so that went you go back to studying you are more effective with it and less likely to burn out but time management is so important with school. You could even Google a video about time management relating to studying

No, but at Windsor's St. College college in the late 70's there was a chap we called (even his girlfriend) "Burnout Brad" because he was a total burnout who'd sit in the lobby and never seem to go to class.

I get burned out every time finals come around. I would psyche myself up to the fact that there was a holiday coming up, so hang in there a little longer.
