My friend lives in Germany. I told her I wanted to work in Germany. She told me "Don't come here. It's hard to live in Germany". Also I wanted to work in Italy. She told Italy wasn't good. What should I do?

Everyone will levy criticism regarding the work environment in his or her country.
There is poverty in every country... so also Germany... but I am, over the whole broad line, under the impression that Germans do have a relatively good life compared to people from some other European countries.
I'd say that in general the North European countries are very good to live in; economies do fairly well, and we have public services which look after people and society.
(The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland... Even the UK; I'd say you will be alright)
Immigration laws can be tough and expensive.
I am Dutch and I live in the UK; I have been living here for 15 years. I have, what is called, 'Settled Status' (Residency scheme for EU nationals) and thus I have all the same right as British people do. Would I want to adopt the British nationality... which is my goal... it'll cost me £1330 to apply for it. Since I do have Settled Status, acquiring the British Nationality should not be an issue for me.
Americans who come to the UK? They need to pay annual fees, for Visas, for a good number of years before they can apply for the British Nationality. This can run up in the 10s of thousands over the course of the Visa period.
Germany is nice... but the language is shit :D
also, the requirements to STAY here are quite high... so before you make ANY decision, be sure that you have learned all law requirements
Stay near your family.
