Has anyone dealt with this?

So I’ve been at my job for two years. I just came back from leave. I feel like my coworkers don’t like me. Those in leadership are asking the manager to fired me. This has been the topic of conversation every time I come to work. They talk among themselves how I’m going to get fired. It’s been two months since I’ve been back and nothing happened. Is this a tactic to get me to quit or am I actually going to get fired.

Apparently I’m getting fired this weekend that’s what I heard.

Omg girl, that sounds like such a stressful situation to be in! Dealing with bitchy coworkers is the worst, especially if they're in leadership roles too. A few thoughts...

First, it doesn't seem like they've actually fired you yet after 2 months back, so I wouldn't panic too much. Seems like just talk so far on their part.

Second, them constantly gossiping about you trying to get fired is super unprofessional and creates a hostile work environment. That's some middle school level bullying BS.

Third, have you talked to your actual direct manager one-on-one? Maybe reassure them you're committed to doing your job well. Come prepared with examples of your work if they bring up any issues. Open communication could help clear the air.

Finally, start looking around quietly just in case. An exit plan takes the power away from catty coworkers. But for now, try not to let their crap get to you! Kill them with kindness and stay focused on your work. You deserve to feel comfortable at your job. Hang in there girl, you've got this! Lmk if it escalates further.

If there is a manager that you feel more comfortable with, schedule an appointment to speak with him privately and tell him that you want an honest answer as it is to your benefit. If you feel reasonably close to- but not sexually, ask him to go out with you for a cup of coffee. That is the least sexy milieu readily available. Tell him/her your question but before you do make sure you're ready to hear some things that may be insulting and/or untrue, But if you can field any surprise opinions tell whomever you speak with to answer honestly as it is something you've felt for a while and ask him/her for any suggestions. Apologize to that person ahead of time for putting whomever into a situation that's kind of stressful and tell them you chose them because you felt you could speak honestly

What did you do? Did you go on leave because there was some kind of tension or friction with you at work and the air just needed to be cleared? Is there something you're leaving out of your story?

I was pregnant and these are new employees who don’t know me at all. There’s only two people on my shift who’ve been there before I went on leave. I’m thinking they thrash talked about me and decided to do this.

Then now it makes perfect sense. This does happen at work. People who dislike you will try to drag your name through the mud, and what's worse is that the other ones are new employees who don't even know you and never even spoke to you before, but they are stupid and weak enough to let other people tell them how to think.

Did you talk to your boss about any of this?

No but I would take this up with HR. Why do they want you fired? Did you do something? Or are they trying to sabotage you to get ahead?
