What job should I go with? Mercedes or Amazon?

If there are any dealership experts out there I would appreciate advice on this post. So I applied for a receptionist position at Mercedes Benz a like two weeks ago the pay is 17 an hour which is actually less than at my current job which is paying me 17.50$ an hour but not that Magee of a difference. I recently was able to get a job at Amazon as a delivery driver for them I start training next Friday November first. They are paying 22.50$ an hour 23$ if you’re a good driver and this is full time. Now my thing is I’ve been looking for a dealership job for a while now but I never got any calls back till now I did an interview last week and it seems to go well I gave them a call yesterday as I hadn’t heard from them and the lady I interviewed with gave her manger at another location my number. I was told they had me in mind for multiple positions form the one I applied for. Now I’m supposed to interview again this Monday with the manger at Mercedes. I’ve wanted a job at a dealership cause selling cars is good money and even better is the Knowledge on how to make those sales. Plus I figure working at a dealership would be great way to get a car as i actually don’t have a vehicle rn and am in pretty desperate need of one. Amazon the pay is good but I haven’t heard the best about the conditions and working there the retention rate isn’t the best at all. I actually did do my first day of training with them already but I have to reduce it cause I couldn’t go in for the second day. The job definitely seems like a lot of things go well with the interview with the manger I think I’ve pretty much got the job at Mercedes should I go with that because of the long term potential. I had told them I wanted to really get into sales and they took that into strong account it seemed. What would be better job to go with?

Yo I hear you on wanting to go the dealership route long term for better potential income and perks down the line. Sales can def pay off big time if you got the chops for it. A few things to consider though:

The Amazon gig paying $22.50 to start is solid money. Especially if you need the cash flow now. Living costs and vehicle expenses add up quick. But true that retail hours can take their toll over time.

As much as you want the sales path, starting in the dealership as a receptionist might not lead somewhere fast, especially at a slightly lower pay rate. Could end up staying there a min before you get looked at for sales. Not ideal if money's tight now.

I'd say maybe take the Amazon job for a minute just to get some cash stacked and car saved up. Keeps your options open too in case the dealer job doesn't pan out short term.

Once you get that coin and ride situated, you can always feel out the sales route again down the road if an open spot comes up. Or apply elsewhere while you learn the biz at Amazon.

Might make the most sense financially to establish yourself first before switching gears. But you know your situation best - trust your gut either way homie!

Hmm that’s kinda the what I was thinking I think the biggest two factors is the car thing and the money if I take the delay job even as rep they did ensure they’d do their best to help me get a vehicle and it might be quicker if I wanted to do that and i certainly opens things up for me when it comes to job searching especially since I know the Amazon job is gonna be tough when it comes to getting there by Uber alone my first day i almost got stranded cause I came up few cents short for a Uber. But despite the bed rep Amazon had the 22.50-23hr is really good money but I’m definitely gonna be working my ass off for that pay in not the best conditions plus like half my paycheck is gonna go straight to Ubers. But I don’t have the dealership job yet I interview tomorrow so I’ll do the smart things en pray on it if things work out I’ll take the job if not I start training with Amazon later this week anyway so I’ll just go with them.

Yeah man, it really does seem like the Mercedes job could be better in the long run even if it means making a little less money to start. Having your own ride would make such a big difference - dealing with Ubers all the time to Amazon sounds stressful as hell. Plus like you said, working at a dealership will open up more opportunities down the line too.

I'd definitely play it smart like you said and really feel out that interview at Mercedes tomorrow. Make sure to ask all the right questions and see what their plan is to move you up. If it sounds promising, that might be the way to go. And who knows, maybe after you've been there a little while proving yourself, they'd be open to bumping up the pay some too.

Fingers crossed it works out dude! But even if Mercedes doesn't pan out, at least you've still got the Amazon job lined up so you won't be totally screwed. Just do your thing in the interview and see how it goes. Keep me posted on what you decide - I'm invested in this now haha! You got this man.

I definitely does but I’m biased I wanted some unbiased opinions on what I should do I think the dealership would be better long term for sure plus it’s a much more appealing environment you get to dress nice with others who dress nice and work around a bunch of nice cars and if I do move up that’s even more money he’ll potentially a job that I can live fairly good on my own if I play my cards right
