Sometimes when you are very very young in life you are attracted to certain things and you feel like you would like to be around it more or do it more often. You start playing with the things that you find give you pleasure.
Mine happened to be paper and pencils and pens, a desk, things that had to do with an office.
When I was about 6 years old and I would go with my mom to pay the utility bills, I would always ask her to ask the lady at the counter if she had any forms I could have. I did this with each utility company.
Pretty soon I had a collection of different forms of paper to play with.
I would sit at my little desk and pretend that I worked for the utility company and fill out the forms.
I became a secretary after high school and worked for the telephone company (utilities 🙂) and various companies for 30 years.21 Reply

The classic for people in my field.
Rough time growing up, lucky to get the help required during the periods I was approachable - turned my life completely around and wanted to help others like I was helped. During education - we do internship, I ended up interning at a home for children with disabilities, some rare asf and fell in love with that field - so I stayed in it.

I know I wanted to go into some sort of (own) business, because I liked the idea of working on my own terms
back then I didn't have the chance to study and pursue what I really had wanted to study, so college/career wasn't the way for me... and I did not want the typical 9 to 5 job that would become more of a routine, so... the idea of starting a business had a lot of appeal to me
now, the particular are in which I started my business is typical of the region, so that's where I saw more opportunity and also chance to do something a bit different than what others were doing... I liked the challenge of it, and also what could pay in return for the future...10 Reply

I've had a long and successful career as an engineer.
My older cousin, who was like a brother and a 2nd father to me, gave me an electronics kit for my 6th birthday. Besides that, I always liked building things... LEGOs and Lincoln Logs. Becoming an engineer was a no-brainer, especially when I found that I really enjoyed math and science in school, and was good at it.

I got my dream industry which is the film industry. As a kid I loved watching behind the scenes footage from movies I liked watching. There was one point I wanted to be an actor but with social anxiety that would be a hard goal to achieve. When I got into middle schools I realized I really loved computers and after watching countless behind the scenes videos I found the world of post production which is all on the computer. I was told by my teachers that I would never reach that dream due to the competitive market. I went to college to learn more about it and with dedication and effort I landed my first job in my late 20’s! It’s a bit rocky industry but I’m staying optimistic that I’ll thrive in it.
10 Reply I like to build things I like to create things I like to make something that I've never seen before and I like to do work for people like that that say hey this is what I'm looking for what do you have what can you do and then let me just put it together and show them that anytime I can invent something make something fix something or see something that's different than what anybody else has and make it work that's what I like
10 ReplyI wanted to be a medical doctor to that end, I started as a paramedic. Then the Worst happened that confused and changed my life forever!
I contracted PTSD, started having nightmares and disassociating. I was forced into retirement. The Worst was when I got PTSD was there was no word, diagnosis or treatment. I HAD to do it ALONE!
It could have turned out worse, but I survived and thrived.10 ReplyIt was more about..

I just fell in to it. I tried other things but without propper resources i was un able to continue and always fell back. I learned later in life about the power of compounding and how to increase my income passively. If i had been exposed to people with this knowledge while i was younger i could have utilized and done different.

I thought it would help people and allow me to make a good living. It has turned into just needing income now. It’s my job not who I am if that makes sense. I don’t hate my job and I don’t love it. It’s just what I do to pay the bills.

I am a good storyteller and I spend a lot of time telling stories just naturally. So I found ways to make money from something I was doing anyway.

I love to drive for one so I chose to drive a truck. Less people that I have to deal with and I really don’t have to worry about a co worker not doing his job or me having to pick up the slack.

Well.. yes. I was Offered 80k for 3 months of work in the mid 2000's ish. But they wanted someone who could fly a helicopter. I should have worded it differently. The risk reward ratio was better in Accoumting and i didn't have to kill anyone anymore.
