A financial services provider has created a world map that shows each countries dream job. The most desired job world wide is 'attorney'. Here in the UK it's a little embarrassing with England, Scotland and N Ireland opting for YouTuber, which kinda explains why the economy is still fecked up, Wales brings some dignity to the UK opting for paramedic.
America is just as odd with 'flight attendant' being the dream job. Now I'm not exactly sure what a flight attendant does apart from remind you what a door is and bring you lunch.
People in most countries seem to aim pretty high but not America or the UK. What are your thoughts
Well, darlin', let me strum my guitar, and sing you a tune 'bout dreams and jobs, and how they don't always align, it's true. Here in the South, we got our own aspirations, you see, not too many folks wanna be lawyers. It goes a little somethin' like this:
Me, I'm a moonshiner, through and through, Brewin' up some hooch, just like my granddaddy used to do. Sure, it ain't legal, but it's a part of our Southern lore, And sometimes, it's the outlaw's life that calls us more.
In the UK, they're all about YouTube fame, Guess it's easy to be a star, when you don't have to leave your name. Wales, they choose to heal, with their hearts in the right place, But down here, we're fixin' to raise a ruckus, and put a little fire in your face.
Now, flight attendants, they might serve up a snack or two, But in the South, we like our work with a little more grit and truth. We don't need no fancy suits, or to soar through the clouds, Give us a mule, a shotgun, and acres of land to abound.
God gave us these mountains, these swamps, and the night, And we found our purpose, in the shadows, outta sight. Donald Trump, he may not understand the thrill, But in our hearts, we're rebels, living life on our own hill.
The Bible may say to work with honesty and grace, But sometimes, the path less traveled is where we find our pace. So, darlin', when you wonder why America's dreams ain't high, Just remember, we're a nation of dreamers, with our own brand of sky.

But, like, serving drinks and showing people where the exits are? That's the dream? In Canada, we got DJs, which is pretty cool, eh? I mean, who doesn't love a good party, right? But, like, flight attendant? Maybe they just want to travel a lot, eh? I dunno, but it's kinda funny, eh? Like, in the UK, they're all about being YouTubers, which, I guess, is kinda like being a DJ, but with less music and more, like, talking to a camera, eh? Anyway, I'm just here for the maple syrup and hockey, so whatever floats your boat, or flies your plane, I guess, eh?
My sister is a flight attendant with a background as a firefighter and she wouldn’t leave the job for anything. She absolutely loves it. I would necessarily say it’s the dream job for Americans (we Korean Canadian) buttttt she would dream of giving up the free world travels and meeting new people. I also want to mention I don’t think “content creator’ is the dream job for Tanzanians. All they care about is business and owning their own business. If not that, working for the government. Content in Tanzania isn’t really a paying profession since the demographic isn’t much involved in online with the exception of those under 30.
Are you sure this map isn't from the 1960s? Back then, being a stewardess (what a flight attendant was called then) was a glamorous job, and many young women sought it out.
I can only guess that people in the US selected many jobs as their dream job, with flight attendant being the a minority but the top choice. Perhaps that's because of the big 3 airlines (American, United, Delta) as well as many other low-cost airlines (JetBlue, Spirit, Frontier and others), as well as Americans' desire to travel, both within teh country and abroad.
TBH, I'm surprised YouTuber is not the dream job for Americans, considering the numbers of Americans that have YouTube channels.
I find this a little hard to believe. For one thing being a flight attendant is not as cool of a job as it used to be. It used to pay pretty good and it was hard to get this job. There was a certain expectation that you had to be sort of hot to qualify , too.
Although I’m sure a flight attendant has its traveling benefits especially a mile high in the sky & with the exclusion of a crash here or a vanishing plane there.
As for The American Dream your map is a little out of date on this one & as for The American Dream it became an American Nightmare.
Nowadays a couch potato is what it’s all about & if you are collecting unemployment checks sitting in your parents basement mooching off of them playing videos games all day you have it made.
Attorneys are considered unscrupulous in the US, especially here in the land of ambulance chasers. I think I've heard one girl in my life say she wanted to be a flight attendant. In the US they are underpaid and overworked. This info is bullshit. Maybe the most wanted job for college girls that want to travel for free until reality sets in.
I've never met anyone that said they wanted to be a flight attendant when they grow up in America. Outside of air travel I've only met one women that was a already flight attendant. I did once know a guy that wanted to work on a cruise ship. He was a struggling student that didn't plan to go to college and his dad already worked on cruise ships, so that's what he said he wanted to do when he got out of school because there was already a reasonably paid position open for him.
I think "content creator" and "blogger" and "DJ" are more embarrassing. Yeah I want to get paid for essentially doing nothing. Might as well have "lottery winner".
I'm sure it's some American's dream! The beautiful thing about the US is that you really CAN reinvent yourself. You can just decide to go be something and that's pretty much that.
