I was a motor vehicle damage field adjuster/appraiser for 30 years from 1980 to 2000 in Los Angeles County and from 2000 to 2010 in northern California.

I loved working in the field. My assignments took me to places I was unfamiliar with and wouldn't have ever otherwise gone. I met many interesting people. If I saw something interesting in my travels I would often stop and check it out.

I stopped at obscure historic sites like preserved adobe haciendas and famous cultural landmarks. I got to go on movie studio lots. I went in a huge warehouse in L. A. that rented movie props. I saw amazing car collections. I met and became friends with HB (Toby) Haliki who made the original Gone in 60 Seconds movie and had his own mind boggling private museum. I went on Airforce bases and saw cool planes, including antiques that only authorized personnel get to see. I found some amazing eateries.

One time, I was driving on Hollywood Blvd and traffic was blocked. They were unveiling Jimi Hendrix star on the walk of fame. The unofficial "mayor of Hollywood", Johnny Grant and Jimi's father, Al Hendrix, spoke from a podium and I took photos.

Those are just samples. Many days were an adventure.
